Happy New Year! Just to say that all lessons and ensembles will be restarting next week (w/c 9th Jan), that includes the 2 new recorder choirs on Wednesday lunchtimes at Settle Primary School! Exciting! 🎶

I know I've been quiet on here but it has still been a phenomenally busy half term! Here's a round up of what has been going on:
EXAM SUCCESS: Last week two of our students took their Grade 4 and Grade 6 Trinity recorder exams and both passed with DISTINCTION (with big thanks to Jen at Ivories & Strings for excellent accompaniment)!! Big well done to you both you both worked so hard!
PUBLIC PERFORMANCES: There have been solo recorder performances at Austwick Primary, an ensemble performance at Settle College and tuned percussion groups at Kirkby Malham and Settle Primaries.
In the New Year I'll be building on the Recorder Clubs at Settle Primary, opening up more spaces to make 2 Recorder Choirs, these will run on Wednesday lunchtimes and more info will be posted here in the first week of the new term (with a view to the clubs starting on Wed 11th).
There will be one final performance of the year from members of the Settle College Ensemble at the Crib Service on Christmas Eve at Holy Ascension, Settle (3pm) and then we can all take a break til January!

Well the new term certainly is a busy one!

Firstly, PERFORMANCE INFO - My current Diploma student and I will be playing duets on a variety of recorders this coming Saturday morning at Holy Ascension Church at their Cafe Morning between 10.30- 12.30. If you're free please do come along, my younger students will be able to see and hear what you CAN do with this fabulous instrument if you keep practising and my student has an amazing solo finale!

Secondly, There have been some changes this year with my working times at Settle Primary School which means that I will hopefully be restarting Recorder Club after half term on a Wednesday lunchtime. I will be in touch with families from last year over the next week or so to see if their child wishes to continue. :)

Finally, exam entries close at the end of next week, I will be in touch with student's families to finalise the details over the coming days.

And today it was the last rehearsal of the Recorder Ensemble at Settle College before the holidays. The ensemblers designed this photo of all our instruments ❤ and the second photo was a gift from a group member, for AGES we've struggled for a group name and I think now he's had it put on a mug it MUST be our new title! The Settle College TrebleMakers! 😁❤

Yesterday 2 of my students started their music exam journeys with their Trinity Grade 1 Recorder exams! They absolutely smashed it with a merit and a distinction! Very well done to you both - proud recorder teacher right here! 🎶❤🎶❤

Lessons restart this week and this half term ends on Friday 27th May 😊. Before Summer we have lots to look forward to, more performances from beginner and advanced ensembles and more face to face exams 🎶🎶 Happy music making everyone 😊
