P7 Journey Through the Past

P7 journeyed back through the ages to 1845 America during their visit to the Ulster American Folk Park.

We discovered what life was like for families living in small, single-room dwellings and learned just how important potatoes were in everyday life. Pupils even sampled bread freshly cooked on a griddle and asked lots of thoughtful questions in each house they visited.

After experiencing a taste of school life from the past, everyone agreed on one thing: we certainly wouldn’t like to have gone to school back then!

We are delighted to welcome Baby Jack and his mum, Catherine, to P7 as we begin our Roots of Empathy journey! 🌱

Throughout the year, Jack and Catherine will visit our class, giving the children the wonderful opportunity to watch Jack grow, develop and reach new milestones. As we learn about Jack’s development and emotions, we will also reflect on our own learning, development and feelings as P7 pupils.

Roots of Empathy is a programme that uses the special relationship between a baby and parent to help children understand emotions, develop empathy and appreciate the feelings and perspectives of others. ❀️

We are so excited to have Jack and Catherine joining us and can’t wait to see how much Jack and P7 grow together over the year! πŸŒ±πŸ‘ΆπŸ“š

As part of their β€˜On Our Doorstep’ World Around Us topic P4-5 travelled to Omagh. 🚌

Mr Dennison who had got a grant to subsidise this term’s P1-7 Folk Park trips told the pupils about emigration. Other themes such as the famine, leaving these shores for opportunity and looking at different New World homes were investigated. πŸ‘πŸ πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

🌟 Crown Jesus Ministries Visit McClintock! 🌟

Nathan and Helen from Crown Jesus Ministries came to our school this week. They told the pupils about Jesus in a novel, creative and interesting way.

The facilitators led a whole school assembly then visited each class.

πŸ‘ Ulster Hockey Primary Blitz πŸ‘

Our three teams played very well with the boys being undefeated and not conceding a goal in 5 matches.

The girls won more games than they lost and grew in confidence with each game. It was lovely to see Joy wearing the goalkeeper kit that McClintock PSG bought.

Hockey was a whole school PE focus in September with the teaching staff attending Ulster Hockey training back in August.

The best match however was when the two McClintock teams met. No quarter was asked for, no quarter was given but at the final whistle all the girls shook hands and became the best of friends again! πŸ₯°

⚽🏟️ A Dream Day at Windsor Park and the National Football Museum! 🏟️⚽

🌟 A superb day was enjoyed at the National Football Museum and Windsor Park Stadium, the home of the Irish Football Association and its impressive 18,500-seat stadium.

πŸ‘Ÿβš½ We were fortunate to have two fantastic volunteer guides, Caroline and Alan, who shared many fascinating stories and expertly guided us through every part of the stadium. Their knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for football brought the history of the game to life for everyone.

πŸ†πŸ“Έ From exploring behind the scenes and visiting the changing rooms to learning about the rich history of Northern Ireland football, there was excitement around every corner. The tour provided a unique experience that our pupils, parents and staff will remember for many years to come.

πŸ˜πŸ‘ For pupils, parents and staff it was a day packed with fun, learning and lifelong memories.

πŸ’¬ As one delighted P6 pupil said -
"This is the best day ever!"

❀️⚽ Those words perfectly summed up a truly unforgettable experience and a dream day at the National Football Stadium @ Windsor Park.
