Thank you for landing on this page! I have been around horses since the age of 8yrs and was lucky to be asked to help out at my then local riding stables when I was 12yrs. I started taking hacks and doing a bit of teaching at 16yrs and the passion for horses has stayed with me ever since. I am a Qualified BHS Instructor & Groom having done my training many moons ago. Over the years, I have worked

in riding schools, trekking centres, livery and competition yards and have also taught for RDA. For those who know me, I also love the theatre and I have taught Singing & Performing Arts for over 30yrs, and continue to do so. Having provided online horse owners theory courses during the COVID lockdowns, I am now back to a small amount of face to face teaching and loving it. My main objective is to give new horse owners, or those looking to get their first horse, the theory behind Horse Care.

We have lift off!!

This morning we had the lovely Maurice from Colne Saddlery come out to see us. We now have a new (to us) saddle to crack on with taking into account Isaac’s muscle and weight gain.

Exciting times ahead! Now I just need to get the bit sorted out…..

We’re very nearly there!

We’ve been signed off by Dickie at B&W vets 💖🐴

After the first treatment on his neck 4 months ago followed by intensive rehab and physio, Issac was finally signed off today with flying colours.

What a relief!!

Huge thanks to Dickie at for your compassion, kindness and dedication to my boy 🫶, Harriet at for your eagle eyes and monthly hands on physio, and the biggest thanks to for simply being the very best rehabber, friend and all round good egg. You’re a star 🌟 ###

Saddler tomorrow to wipe out my bank balance 🤦‍♀️🤪, then get his bit sorted…. Then we’re off!!

Ragwort pulling time

Great satisfaction from clearing a field or two from ragwort.
Much like the satisfaction I get from poo picking 😂
And tack cleaning….

Plus the odd lesson here and there ❤️🐴

Whilst I might be missing out on all the fun and excitement of Badminton Horse Trials this year, I did have a super poles clinic with Issac the Wonder Horse with Animals in Action Veterinary Physiotherapy at Acton Equestrian this afternoon.

Issac is continuing to show progress with his rehab and is stronger and definitely more comfortable following his recent neck treatment.

I'm very fortunate to have a good team around me to keep us both ticking along. We won't ever be taking part in Badders but as long as we both have fun together, and continue to learn and grow as a partnership, that's all that really matters.

Perhaps next year, I'll be in a position to by matchy-matchy at Badders for all the comps we might be brave enough to do! Who knows!!

It’s been a long hard slog and so many people to thank for getting us here. One person in particular- an absolute LEGEND you are so amazing 🤩

Back in the saddle and ready to see where this next chapter goes!

Being owned by a horse is not a hobby.
It’s a lifestyle.
A personality trait.
A mild financial collapse with emotional benefits.

At some point you thought you bought a horse.
You exchanged money.
You signed paperwork.
You told non-horsey people, “I own a horse now.”

Cute.
Delusional.

What actually happened is a 500kg prey animal quietly assumed ownership of you.

They decide:

what time you wake up

what clothes you ruin

where your money goes

how long you stand in the rain questioning your life choices

You rearrange your entire existence around:

feed times

rug changes

weather apps (that lie)

the vibe of the horse that day

You will:

skip meals but remember their supplements

forget your own coat but bring three spares for them

drive miles for “just one thing” you absolutely did not need

apologise to your horse for things that are not your fault

You will speak fluent horse:

“He only does that on a Tuesday when it’s windy.”

Your phone is no longer yours. It is:

87 blurry photos of nostrils

42 videos of nothing happening

one absolutely majestic photo you will show everyone, including strangers

Your bank account lives in fear. Every noise is:

vet

farrier

dentist

chiropractor

saddle fitter

just in case

You will say things like:

“It’s fine, I’ll eat later.”

“I’ll just pop up the yard.” (LIE)

“This rug was a bargain.”

“It’s cheaper than therapy.”

You will be covered in:

hay

mud

mysterious substances

emotional attachment

And yet…
One soft nicker.
One muddy nose in your chest.
One moment where they choose you…

And suddenly it all makes sense.

Because being owned by a horse means:

being needed

being trusted

being chosen, quietly, every day

You are broke.
You are tired.
You are late.

But you are theirs.

And it's the best feeling ever. 🥰🥰🥰
