The Academy, Selsey Continues to Impress with GCSE Results.
Students at The Academy, Selsey are celebrating another strong set of GCSE results, with more students making excellent progress across a wealth of subjects and an increasing number achieving the very highest grades.
This year has seen a particularly impressive rise in top grades, with over 100 Grade 7’s or better achieved across the Academy – a 35% increase on the previous year. This reflects the ambition and determination of our students, alongside the commitment of staff who have supported them throughout their GCSE journey.
The Academy is proud to recognise three of our outstanding high achievers this year, whose dedication and remarkable performance are a testament to their commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes. Charlie Ross achieved Grade 9s in both English Language and Maths alongside Grade 8s across the board, all whilst supporting the school in his role as Head Student. Oliver Bow made exceptional levels of progress, achieving a Grade 8 average as well as a Distinction* in Health and Fitness. Becci Muller secured an impressive array of Grades 7 and 8, as well as a Grade 9 in English Language and a Distinction* in Health and Fitness.
It has also been fantastic to see some of the Academy’s newer subjects excel. Dance achieved top grades across the board, demonstrating the strength and breadth of our developing curriculum. This success sits alongside continued excellent performance in more traditional academic subjects, with Triple Science once again producing particularly impressive outcomes.
Headteacher Jo Ford said:
“We are incredibly proud of our students and everything they have achieved. It is particularly pleasing to see more young people achieving the highest GCSE grades and strong progress being made across such a wide range of subjects.
“Seeing newer areas of our curriculum, such as Dance, achieving alongside established strengths such as Triple Science demonstrates that our students can excel in many different areas. These results are testament to their hard work, the dedication of our staff and the support of our families.
“Most importantly, behind every result is an individual young person taking their next step. We wish every one of our students the very best as they move on to sixth form, college, apprenticeships and the next stage of their lives.”
The Academy would like to congratulate the Class of 2026 and thank staff, parents and carers for the support they have provided throughout the students’ time at the school.
If you would like to be part of this success, join us at our Open Evening on Thursday 24th September, 4.30pm–7.30pm, with Headteacher’s talks at 5.00pm and 6.30pm.
