1. ✈️ PART TIME MOSTLY VOLUNTARY ROLE (Stipend/expenses paid) - Bursary & Aviation Access Lead – British Young Pilots.
Our in-house bursary scheme is something we are all very proud of at BYP but as we grow, so do the number of bursary places. The time has come, we need a Bursar.
We’re looking for someone special to help us make sure that a young person’s financial circumstances never have to be the reason they can’t pursue a future in aviation.
British Young Pilots is looking for a Bursary & Aviation Access Lead to take ownership of our growing bursary programme.
This is a mostly voluntary role, with a stipend and expenses, and could be particularly well suited to someone retired or semi-retired from aviation who would like to use their experience, time and network to make a very tangible difference to the next generation.
You’ll help us:
• Identify the young people who will benefit most from our bursary places
• Follow and support them throughout their journey with BYP
• Make sure they receive additional guidance and career support where needed
• Build relationships with charities, trusts and other organisations providing grant funding
• Track exactly where their funding goes and provide meaningful reporting on the young people they’ve supported
• Use your own aviation knowledge and network to open doors and create opportunities for our bursary students
We’re not necessarily looking for someone who wants another “job”. We’re looking for someone who loves aviation, believes in what we’re trying to achieve and wants to leave a mark on the next generation.
You might be a retired airline pilot, military aviator, aviation professional or simply someone with strong organisational skills and a lifetime of useful connections within the industry.
The important bit is that you care about access to aviation and social mobility, and want to personally help talented young people who might otherwise never get the opportunity.
The role is flexible and largely remote, but you’ll become an important part of the British Young Pilots team and our wider mission to make aviation genuinely accessible to young people from every background.
Interested — or know exactly the person we should be talking to?
Please send us a message or tag/share this with someone who might be perfect for it. ✈️
