As a Junior Gliding Centre we are very proud of these two young men!!
They first arrived at our launch point on their pushbikes 4-5yrs ago asking if they could watch and help out. They are now both experienced solo pilots who regularly fly our single seat Junior, our Janus, participate in aerobatics, drive our winch and generally assist around the club. It’s even more rewarding that they chose to just pop in at the end of a day flying visitors to introduce their partners to the club.
It’s a joy to watch them grow in their lives and in their flying experience. A significant part of what our wonderful sport of Gliding is all about.

Huge Congratulations to the latest member of our Instructor team at Burn Gliding Club!
Matthew Rands successfully passed his BI(S) Assessment of Competence yesterday, and is welcomed to the team by our CFI Dave Bellamy.
We should also thank all the Instructors who have played a part in preparing Matthew, including Dave Watson BGC and his assessor Paul Holland DGC and indeed Darlton Gliding Club for hosting Matthew for his assessment.

Some fantastic fun and flying over a busy weekend at Burn Gliding Club with the ‘centre piece’ being a Live Band ‘Primal Suspects’ performing for us in the Clubhouse on Saturday night with the support of one of our Instructors Keith Springate 😁

Our K21 G-DERH is back in the air for the pleasure and enjoyment of our members 😁 Huge thanks our CFI Dave and Instructor Keith for transporting her to and from the repairer, to tim@airbornecomposites for having a rear canopy in stock and fitting it in record time, and of course our club Inspector Bob and his willing helpers for completing the extra tail fin work discovered while rigging her!
All we need now is some more decent soaring weather 🤞☀️☁️

Always a warm welcome to visiting pilots at Burn Gliding Club! Chris Gill CFI Denbigh GC was met by our CFI Dave Bellamy and member Tom Hunter when they landed at the end of their epic flight of nearly 800km yesterday. Helped to derig and then a long road journey back to Denbigh. Well done guys.

When the sun comes out, so do our members 😁 A great day with the highest number of flights on any day so far this year including type conversions, annual checks, type conversion for one of our Juniors and a flight of over 3hrs by our new DCFI Neal Shead off a winch launch! 🙌 Great team work and lots of fun for all 😁👏
