🍪 Baking up some brilliant learning! 🍪

Over the last few weeks, Maisie (one of our Year 7 students) has been utilising her reading skills to follow recipes and create some fantastic bakes. Today, she put those skills into practice by making her very own double chocolate chip cookies! 🍫🍪

It’s wonderful to see how skills developed through her one-to-one tuition can be applied in such a fun, practical and meaningful way.

Edward has been working with his tutor, Adam, and over the last few weeks they’ve been exploring the fascinating world of rockets! 🚀📚

Together, they read a book about rockets, designed and created their own rockets during their lessons and today they took their learning one step further, by investigating whether cola and Mentos could provide enough “fuel” to blast their rocket into action! 🥤💥🚀

Edward, our Year 2 student, absolutely loved getting hands-on with this science experiment. 🧪✨ It was fantastic to see his curiosity, creativity and excitement as he explored how forces, movement and reactions can make things happen.

This hands-on learning links beautifully with the UK National Curriculum for Key Stage 1 Science, particularly Forces and Magnets and Working Scientifically, encouraging children to observe, ask questions, carry out simple tests and record their findings. 🔬🔎

What a brilliant few weeks of learning, experimenting and, of course, blasting off! 🚀🌟

Worried about a child’s safety? Knowing what to do could make a difference. 💙

If you have concerns that a child may be experiencing abuse, neglect, exploitation, or harm - don’t wait until you have all the answers. You do not need to be certain something is wrong to report a concern.

What you can do:

🚨 If a child is in immediate danger:
Call 999.

📞 If it is not an emergency but you are worried:
Contact your local council’s Children’s Services team or call the police on 101 if you believe a crime may have happened.

💬 Need advice before reporting?
You can contact the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000 for support and guidance. (NSPCC)

When reporting, share what you know:
✅ The child’s name, age and location (if known)
✅ What you have seen, heard or been told
✅ Dates, times and any patterns of concern
✅ Why you are worried

Remember: safeguarding children is everyone’s responsibility. Speaking up could help a child get the support and protection they need.

📚 Harper has been exploring The Beast and Bethany during her English lessons with her tutor, Adam. As the story unfolds, the Beast has been requesting increasingly unusual foods, from animals to even children, sparking plenty of imaginative discussion!!

As part of the lesson, Harper created a menu of foods the Beast might enjoy and even baked a delicious old school cake to include on it. A fantastic hands-on activity that brought the story to life while combining literacy, creativity and practical skills! 🍰✨
