Bit of bait prep ahead of tomorrow’s session in front of the cameras with . Hopefully with a very early start planned we can catch a few chub or barbel on my favourite summer tactic of rolling meat. The meat hasn’t let me down yet so fingers crossed

Time to take my long range feeder fishing to the next level. The shallow spools for the Korum Axis distance reels are perfect for loading with braid which will give extra casting range and increased bite sensitivity. I’ll report back in a few months

I’ve hardly been out on the rivers since the season opened for various reasons, mainly the weather. With a bit of a drop in temperatures this week. I headed out for a quick evening session rolling meat. A couple of lovely fish in quick succession made me realise what I’d been missing. Let’s hope we get some rain soon.

Dynamite Baits garlic meat doing the job as always

I love catching fish. I love helping other people catch fish too. There’s nothing better than sharing in the excitement of a new convert to our amazing sport. Had a couple of great sessions at the lovely Laybourne Lakes recently catching on basic float fishing tactics using Korum tackle and Dynamite baits. As always it’s not just about the fishing and we were kept company by kingfishers, woodpeckers, a myriad of butterflies and dragonflies and even a grass snake

My spring fishing this year has been limited. Two operations have meant I’ve been unable to drive for large parts of April and May. My first session back on the bank for 3-weeks was hard work but I did manage a nice hat trick of species.

The unwanted interest of myriad small rudd and perch rendered my usual maggot feeder approach useless so a switch to the method feeder was deployed. Fishing a Korum camo method feeder at 60 yards over a bed of Dynamite Baits pellets and h**p brought the success.

The poor bream had managed to lasso itself in some old line and had a nasty cut on both flanks. I cut him free and applied some antiseptic so hopefully he’ll be ok. Definitely an easy one to recognise again.

I’m not usually in any great rush to hit the rivers come 16th June but the recent rains have got my juices flowing for some running water

I hadn’t caught a catfish in the uk before so last week I decided to put that right. A trip to the lovely in Suffolk was organised. The fishing was hard in the baking hot conditions but with perseverance and a big of luck I managed a couple of nice fish. A 36 in the middle of the afternoon was a bit of a surprise and was followed by another of 50lb around midnight to round off a memorable trip.
