The baby room have loved being in the garden while the weather has been nice but cool. Over the last few weeks we have explored the world, supported countries in the World Cup, and posted letters to people around the world in our post office.

In the baby room we have enjoyed exploring a range of activities.
We have been travelling the world, learning about different cultures, beliefs, and celebrations. We have also enjoyed getting messy and creative.

We have taken the time to consider the extreme weather conditions we are experiencing at the moment and how this is impacting our setting.

Our staff and children's welfare and well-being is our priority.

This is why we have made the difficult decision to close early at 5pm on Thursday 25th June & Friday 26th June.

Over the last week in Toddlers we have enjoyed participating in a variety of celebrations and theme related activities.

On Monday the children celebrated republic day in Italy. They enjoyed creating playdough pizzas, decorating areoplanes, buildling landmarks from around Italy and trying an italian themed meal (vegetable lasange with garlic bread).

On Tuesday the children celebrated childrens day in Poland. All the children and staff dressed up in bright colours. We also enjoyed creating playdough dumplings (pierogi), painting a Polish flag, building landmarks from around Poland and trying an italian themed meal (Instant Pot Haluski with Kielbasa and Polish Blueberry Cake & Custard)

Over the rest of the week the children have particpated in a vareity of activities relating to this terms theme: Adventures await!

Here is a reminder of our nursery summer term celebration dates we will be celebrating and exploring alongside our curriculum themes

Monday 1st June 2026- Celebrating Republic Day in Italy
For the children who attend on Monday 1st June we will be celebrating republic day in Italy. We will be trying an Italian themed dish. We will also be exploring a range of crafts that symbolise the day including creating wreaths and creating paper aeroplanes that represent the Italian Air force. We will also exploring the musical instruments and create our very own musical band!

Tuesday 2nd June 2026- Celebrating Children’s Day in Poland
For the children who attend on Tuesday 2nd June, we invite all children to dress up in bright colours. We aim to make the nursery as bright and colourful as we can to celebrate all the wonderful; and unique children we have within our care. We will also have a Polish themed meal.

Friday 12th June 2026- The Kings Birthday Celebrations
For the children who attend on Friday 12th June, we invite all children to come dressed up as a king and bring along their favourite teddy. We will be exploring royal activities and having our very own teddy picnic tea!

W/C 6th-10th July 2026- Butterfly’s Sponsored Sports Week
Over the week commencing 6th July we will be holding a sponsored sports week. We will be completing a range of physical activities and games to help raise money for an amazing foundation. We will also be exploring the world cup and Wimbledon activities.
The foundation we will be raising money for is the: Make-A-Wish Foundation UK
Sponsor forms will be available W/C 1st June 2026.

Thursday 30th July- Summer Greek Festival Day
For the children who attend on Thursday 30th July, we invite you all to come dressed in Greek island colours. We will be celebrating all things Greek! We will be exploring Greek music, sea creature crafts and have a Greek themed meal.

M/C 1st August 2026- Around the world in 31 days
Over the month of August, we will be exploring all different countries. We will be trying different meals from Greece, Poland, Italy, England, and many more other countries.

We had a very special visit off one of our local schools-Whitley and Eggborough Community Primary School. The EYFS teacher kindly brought in their chicks to show all of our children. We had lots of fun stroking the chicks and discussing the life cycle of a chick.

Toddlers are enjoying their new playdough station, exploring different ways to use tools and their imaginations.

During the last month in Preschool we have celebrated different days including Penguin day the 20th January. We explored where they live by using globes, books and also talked about what they ate.
On 21st January it was Red Squirrel appreciation day. We looked at where a squirrel lives. In the tuff tray we used tools and equipment to free the squirrels food from the ice in relation to the world around us.
We have made our own listening station. Here we can enjoy listening and singing along to music and stories.
In group time we had lots of fun learning different yoga poses. We listened to stories on these and also carried out turn taking activities.

Good afternoon 🌻🦋
The baby garden are hoping to make some changes, to make the space even more fun and engaging. We are hoping to move our current storage unit but need some flagstones to make the ground level for it. If anyone within the local community has any flagstones that would cover a space 118" (300cm) by 39 1/2" (100cm) and would be happy to donate them we would massively appreciate this.
