As another school year comes to an end, can I remind you of something? 💗
This time of year can bring so many emotions. Pride, excitement, exhaustion, reflection... and, if we’re honest, probably a little self-doubt too. I think many of us quietly ask ourselves the same question: Have I done enough?
When you care deeply, it’s so easy to focus on what you didn’t do, rather than everything you did. The activities you didn’t quite get around to, the little things you wish you’d found more time for, or the moments you still replay in your mind, wondering if you could have done something differently.
But then I think about the things children really carry with them.
The way you greeted them each morning. The cuddles when they needed reassurance. The laughter you shared. The stories you read over and over again. The muddy adventures, the songs, the silly moments, the conversations that seemed so small at the time but made them feel heard, valued and safe. 🥰
So much of what we do can never be measured.
And that’s because the greatest impact we have isn’t found in paperwork, displays or photographs. It’s found in confidence that quietly grows, friendships that blossom, resilience that develops, curiosity that flourishes and children who know, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are loved, capable and enough.
If you’ve spent this year showing up with kindness, patience and a genuine desire to give children the very best of yourself, then please don’t underestimate the difference you’ve made.
So, this is simply a little reminder to stop for a moment and recognise just how much you’ve given. Be proud of yourself, because the children certainly have every reason to be. 🙌
Thank you to everyone who has played a part in helping children grow this year. It isn’t always easy, and it isn’t always seen, but it matters more than words can say.
Here’s to another year of making a difference, often in ways we’ll never truly realise.
Whether you're a childminder, nursery practitioner, teacher, or anyone who supports children in other ways, I'd love you to take a moment to recognise yourself today. You really have made a difference 🌈🫶🏻❤️
