𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘄𝘀 - safety in the home
As the weather gets warmer (hopefully) many of us are opening our windows to help to keep cool. The Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) has noticed that during the summer months there is often a rise in the number of young children falling from windows.
Our youngest children are at more risk as they are curious and want to know what is happening outside, but they don't always understand the danger of leaning out too far. This is compounded by the fact that their heads are proportionately much bigger than ours in comparison to the rest of their body which can make them "top heavy".
CAPT also reminds us how quickly accidents can happen and before you know it a little one has climbed onto something to reach an open window. They recommend fitting catches, locks or restrictors to prevent your windows opening too wide.

Pipe cleaners - make into a circle or try another shape

WHAT DO WE MEAN BY MARK MAKING?
Mark making is sometimes referred to as emergent writing. It is the first step in children’s journey towards the type of writing that can be read and understood by others. Children often enjoy Mark making on the floor with large paper and crayons.

Why working with parents is key to tackling early years underfunding Parents can be the sector's greatest allies in fighting for more funding, says Neil Leitch

Did you know that Boots have a campaign called "Ask for Jesse" that is aimed at helping to support vulnerable families with children aged between 3 and 5 to access free oral hygiene products?
A family in need can simply "ask for Jesse" and a member of the Boots team will discretely provide them with free oral hygiene products. The scheme runs in many of the stores across the UK.
✨ENCLOSING SCHEMA✨Children will often make boundaries around themselves such as a fort or a fence to enclose themselves in. They might also enclose items in boxes or containers as well as drawing borders on pictures. This shows their interest in ordering and organising things and spaces.
More than a third of early years providers in England planning to increase childcare fees this year say they would not do so if government funding was enough to adequately cover their costs, while four in 10 said that they would be raising childcare fees by a smaller amount, a new survey by the Alliance has revealed.
Commenting, Alliance CEO Neil Leitch said: “Providers are now facing a cliff edge, with more than a third of early years businesses currently operating at a loss (30%) and even more (34%) expecting to operate at a loss in a years’ time – but this could all be avoided if the government finally admitted there is a problem and took action to plug the widening funding gap.
“Early years providers offer a lifeline for working parents and vital early education for young children, but it is becoming near-impossible for them to offer these critical services at affordable prices. The government needs to address the sector’s funding gap before more parents – and especially mothers – are forced to pay ever-increasing prices and compromise their careers to ensure their child can receive good quality care and education.”
