Sedgefield Hardwick

Sedgefield Hardwick Welcome to Sedgefield Hardwick. We are - in the eyes of Ofsted - an ‘Outstanding’ school. Sedgefield Hardwick is a learning community which evolves and changes.

We are an average sized primary school situated in the heart of the historic town of Sedgefield, County Durham. We provide a stimulating and exciting educational experience for 3-11 year olds and also have a 52 place Nursery. We believe that education is about expanding our expectations and building on firm foundations. It is critical for our success that every learner is well equipped with a bala

nce of social, moral and academic skills. We have excellent staff who are committed to providing unique, stimulating and interesting learning opportunities which motivate our learners to apply their skills. For us, the true measure of successful learning is how well we are able to use our creativity in self-directed situations. At Sedgefield Hardwick we all have a part to play in shaping the future and we are all valued, respected and heard. I hope within these pages you will discover something of how we combine the best of traditional community values with the very latest in teaching methods and specialist provision. If you would like any further information about any aspect of life at Sedgefield Hardwick please do not hesitate to contact me. Sally Newton

As part of their Learning Enquiry, Year 1 have been developing their sewing skills by learning how to do a running stitch. The children carefully practised threading a needle – a tricky skill that required lots of concentration and independence! Once ready, they created their own embroidery patterns, stitching beautiful flowers, trees and leaves. This activity took real perseverance and patience, especially when things didn’t go quite to plan the first time. It was lovely to see everyone showing such determination and pride in their work. Well done to all the children for their fantastic effort and creativity.
