July 2026 Series: Live Moroccan Geometry Workshops
This course explores the arched ornaments known as al-Qamba within tawzaqet (traditional Moroccan wood painting). Participants will analyze three interwoven geometric patterns across various wooden artifacts: Tnashri (12-fold), Stashri (16-fold), and Arb’a wa-Ashrini (24-fold).
Thins online course focuses on the compositional frameworks of al-Qamba, decoding their structural logic and aesthetic principles. Alongside interpretive analysis, the course introduces traditional technical processes. Specifically, it utilizes the artisanal Hasba method as a guiding framework for pattern drafting and ex*****on.
Through this dual analytical and practical approach, participants will gain a deep understanding of both the symbolic significance and geometric sophistication of Moroccan architectural woodwork.
This course is designed for artists, designers, architects, and scholars of geometry seeking a rigorous, historically grounded mastery of Islamic geometric art.
