German, French and Russian language tuition

About this time of year I begin to receive messages from anxious parents who are concerned about their children's preparedness for GCSE French and German exams and mock exams.

In many cases their children are simply lacking in confidence or practise rather than any fundamental foreign language weaknesses.

After an initial review of the student's most recent written work to identify individual strengths and weaknesses we design a tailored lesson plan, incorporating their favourite hobby/sport or interests into our lessons to bolster their interest and motivation.

Without exception, over the last 5 years as a language tutor, I have observed that every student, and indeed their parents, will begin to notice an improvement even after just 3 hours of bespoke tuition; delivered either face to face or online. This improvement is visible not only in their grades but equally importantly in their confidence to fully immerse themselves into the language.

What a fantastic start to the day.
I opened an email at 7am from the parent of one of my Year 9 French GCSE students, who had been lacking confidence when we first started her French tuition programme, to read that her daughter achieved 94% in her French year end assessment.
She worked so hard in our tuition sessions as well as completing homework in between too.
I am feeling enormously proud of her.

So lovely to hear tonight from a parent of a Year 9 GCSE French student who, after only 3 hours tuition with me so far, is now putting up her hand in class at school to answer questions in French. Before tuition she was too shy and uncertain to speak up. Language learning really does boost not only fluency skills, but also self confidence.

It is always sad when Year 11 GCSE French and German students finish their tuition with me as they are about to do final assessments rather than exams this year.

This year in particular has been so challenging for them, but they have persevered and average grades for my students across both languages are predicted at 8/9 which is amazing and full credit to them and their commitment.

I wish them well in their future endeavours and have already started new tuition programmes with year 9 and 10 pupils in the last month so the future for languages is looking bright.

Endings and new beginnings always come with mixed emotions, but what always remains is my love of languages which I can't wait to share with students Face to Face soon as well as Online.
