Today, our regular Tuesday morning group whittled some toasting sticks and then made campfire bread! Delicious with honey or some wild garlic butter that one of our young people made.

This group have been coming a while now, and it's great watching them take responsibility for themselves. Some are still happy 'just' playing in the woods, while others enjoy tackling new projects and experiences. Love Forest School 💚

Campfire snacks are always a winner at Forest School, and on today's menu was popcorn drizzled with honey, and garlic bread made with wild garlic 😋. The wild garlic wasn't for everyone though!

Today we welcomed KS1 from St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Frizington into the woods for the first time. They threw themselves into play from the word go! They built nests, swung in the hammock and created a cupcake factory in the mud pit! Looking forward to spending the rest of the term with them 🌳

Lovely to be back in the woods today after over a month away! There has been so much fresh green growth that it was barely recognisable, and the sunshine was a treat 🌳☀️

It was a misty, warm, calm day at Longlands on Monday, perfect for simply finding a quiet spot on our own to notice sounds, sights and feelings. It was beautiful! We heard a woodpecker, so much bird song and a buzzing bee.

We spent the rest of the session playing, allowing the children to do whatever they were drawn to. We made nests, braided friendship bracelets, played in our shrinking mud pit, climbed trees and built dens 💚

A really lovely calm session in the Spring sun with Year 5 from St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Frizington. Following the lead of the children, we spent most of the time pottering around the wildlife pond. We checked how much the frogspawn had grown and made a dam and waterfall in the stream. Some took the opportunity to do a bit of quiet whittling. We finished by the lake to feed the ducks and swans and have a go with the binoculars. Watching a swan come into land right in front of us was pretty impressive, and a little scary!
