Hands-on coaching in action 👏

Sometimes a verbal cue is all you need. Sometimes you need to actually feel the position for it to click.

That might mean helping you adjust your stance, guiding you into a better position or physically showing you where we want you to move from.

These are real moments from our sessions.
Three different coaches, doing what they do every day.

Because coaching isn’t just giving you an exercise and counting your reps. It’s watching how you move, making adjustments and helping you understand what the movement should feel like.

It’s the little corrections that can make a big difference. 💪

Meet Mike 👋 Our resident Sports Therapist at TBJ.

One of the biggest benefits of having Mike around isn’t just helping when something hurts it’s being able to catch those little niggles before they become bigger problems.

That knee that’s been feeling a bit funny.
The shoulder you’ve been quietly working around.
That back that “only hurts sometimes” 👀

You don’t need to be injured to speak to Mike and you definitely don’t need to feel embarrassed about mentioning something that doesn’t feel quite right.

The earlier we know about it, the more we can work together.
Mike and your coaches want to help you keep moving, adapt where needed and feel confident in your training.

So if something’s niggling you… tell us. We’d much rather know about it early.

More with Mike coming soon, including how to approach training when something doesn’t feel quite right.

Mobility of the Month

This month Hannah is demonstrating the Kettlebell Hip Shift
A simple movement with plenty of purpose.

This one helps us work on mobility through the hips and inner thighs, while practising our ability to comfortably shift our weight from side to side.

Why does that matter? Because our hips need to move in more directions than just forwards and backwards, both in training and in everyday life.

Better hip mobility can help with everything from squats and lunges to walking, changing direction and getting down to the floor.

The aim isn’t to force the biggest range possible. Take your time, stay controlled and work within the range that feels good for you.

Strong bodies need to move well too. 💪

We challenged our members to eat 100g of protein everyday in August…

Why?

Protein helps our bodies to build and repair muscle, supports recovery, and helps keep us feeling fuller for longer.

And getting enough doesn’t need to be complicated!

Exercise of the Month: Step with Knee Drive 💪

This month’s featured movement is all about building strength that carries over into everyday life.

The Step with Knee Drive helps improve:
✅ Single-leg strength
✅ Balance and stability
✅ Core control
✅ Coordination
✅ Confidence moving through everyday tasks like climbing stairs, walking uphill or getting up from the floor.

Don’t rush this one. Focus on driving through your front foot, staying balanced at the top and lowering yourself back down with control.

Small details make a big difference and your coaches are always there to help you get the most from every rep.

Have you tried this one in a session yet?
Let us know how you found it!

Not every workout has to be serious and Carla proves it. 🥊😂

This Boxfit session with Coach Gemma had everything: plenty of laughs, tricky but fun boxing combinations, lots of encouragement, and a whole lot of fun.

One of the best parts of training is discovering something you never expected to enjoy. Learning a new skill, moving your body, laughing with your friends and leaving with a smile on your face.

If you’ve been thinking about giving Boxfit a go, let this be your sign.
You don’t need any experience, just a willingness to have a laugh and give it your best.

Who’s joining us at the next Boxfit session?

Everyone loves a transformation, but this is what they usually miss:

1) The weeks of showing up.
2) The same sessions.
3) The same exercise.
4) The small improvements that add up.

Karen has gone from a 70kg hip thrust to 130kg over the last month.
Not because she rushed the process, but because she trusted it.

She trains around previous knee injuries, gives every session her best and reminds us that consistency beats perfection every single time.

We couldn’t be prouder of you, Karen.

July is never the easiest month to stay in a routine.

Holidays, BBQs, weekends away, school holidays, family plans.

Life gets busier.

What stood out to us wasn’t who had the “perfect” month.

It was the members who adapted.
The ones who squeezed in a session before a trip.
The ones who came after a long day.
The ones who simply did what they could.

Your coaches notice those efforts more than you probably realise.

Thank you for another month of showing up, supporting each other and proving that consistency doesn’t have to look perfect.

Bring on August. 💪

No squeaky toys were harmed in the making of this reel. 😂

But there is a coaching point…

Hitting the right depth isn’t about chasing the loudest squeak. It’s about moving through the range of motion you can control with good technique.

For Zercher squats that often means aiming for your thighs to reach at least parallel, while keeping your core braced and staying in a strong position.

More range of motion can help you:
✅ Build strength through more of the movement
✅ Improve mobility and control
✅ Get more out of every rep

Sometimes coaching is serious.
Sometimes it’s the silly things that help. 😛
