🍂Autumn is here 🍂

Have you spotted the signs?

Fallen leaves, conkers to collect, muddy footprints and chilly noses all make autumn a brilliant time to get children outside exploring.

Here are some simple outdoor activity ideas to try together, from collecting leaves and spotting animal tracks to watching the sunset or warming up with a flask of hot chocolate.

We've updated our parents area with even more autumn and Halloween ideas - check it out!

Week 3 😊 this week we used our fine motor skills to paint animals! Our story was brown bear brown bear which is all about colours and animals so the children were given opportunities to mix their own colours up and paint! It was lots of fun and a little bit messy 😅 Large motor skills were put into action on our big climbing frame, it is always popular and it’s lovely to see the children confidence grow throughout the weeks on it. Plenty of team work this week and helping each other and some lovely friendships forming as everybody gets to know each other. We sang baa baa black sheep and twinkle twinkle ⭐️ and one of our favourite interactive songs ‘I went to the farm one day’ it’s very catchy! We enjoyed lots of time outside making the most of lovely September weather 🍂🌞

Week 2 😊 another great week welcoming more new starters, our ‘old’ children have been fantastic role models and have really helped our new ones settle in. We have spent lots of time outdoors, the children built ‘wobbly bridges’ then used balancing skills to cross them, they made a wonderful see saw, spent time throwing and catching a ball, explored dinosaur 🦖 small world and chopped and cooked carrots 🥕 indoors they used apples and paint to print and made towers with magnetic blocks. We made cakes with chocolate smelling play dough, we sang 5 current buns in a bakers shop - we had our own baker with a till, 5 cakes and 5 pennies so everyone could join in! Our story was the gingerbread man, lots of the children have this one at home and we able to join in with the story 📚

We have had a lovely first week back at preschool 😊 Our returning children settled back in like they have only had a weekend off! They have all definitely grown over the holidays and it has been lovely hearing about what they all got up to 😊 Throughout the week we began getting to know our new children and their families during settling in sessions - they all did amazing and seemed to really enjoy themselves!
