So, I asked Jude to work out where the drums came in (by counting) in the song we were working on and (again by counting) what beat of the bar the drums started on. He worked it out and learnt the drum intro to the song. I really ought to have recorded that but instead, I recorded our celebratory dance at the end of the lesson.

A little late with this news but …….Massive CONGRATULATIONS to Ellie on passing her Grade 5 Trinity Rock & Pop exam with DISTINCTION. Excellent work Ellie - Grade 6 here we come!

A MASSIVE shoutout to Monty for his awesome performance with North Lincolnshire Music 80’s presentation which I was lucky enough to catch at Cafe Indie this week. In only his 3rd (maybe 4th) public performance he was looking very comfortable and confident behind the kit and his timekeeping was bang on! He was loving every minute and is probably still buzzin’ as we speak. WELL DONE MONTY!

HAPPY10th BIRTHDAY to my Tiki Drums snare drum! I can’t quite believe it’s been 10 years since I travelled down to Brighton to spend the most awesome weekend building this 13”x 6” maple snare. It was great to meet Preston and we were very lucky to be able to benefit from his vast drum-building knowledge. I’m still very proud of the result and more importantly I still love it!

EXAM RESULT: Mega CONGRATULATIONS to Charlie on passing his Rockschool Grade 1 exam with MERIT recently. He’s put so much effort into this and has got his reward ….. and he’s made an awesome start on his Grade 2 pieces already. WELL DONE CHARLIE!

Congratulations to RhythmSticks student Monty, on winning First Prize in the North Lincolnshire Music and Drama Festival (in the Solo Drum Kit Class) which took place recently. This was all Monty’s own work. No wonder he’s looking pleased. WELL DONE MONTY!
