Oasis Academy: Parkwood

The children who represented Parkwood as part of the Quad Kids event this week showed some brilliant skills. They showed resilience and were great team mates to each other. They were a credit to the academy and everyone is very proud. Well done to the Year 2 team who came 4th overall.

The children in Reception have taken part in the Rhyme Challenge. They have learned and performed a new nursery rhyme each week in May. They were very proud to recieve their certificates and even performed for the whole school in assembly and did an amazing job!

Super work once again for our Pupils of the week. They have been recognised for using a variety of the Oasis 9 Habits including compassion and self control. Well done we are very proud!

Children in Sycamore have enjoyed separating mixtures using different separation techniques during their science lesson.

40 have been learning about electricity and we have been building circuits. The children enjoyed working out how to complete their circuits and learning what happens when a circuit is broken. Miss Shephard saw what we were doing and kindly brought in a banana that plays music when the children make a complete circuit using their bodies. They also enjoyed exploring this!

Thank you to those families who joined us for the Early Reading Event as part of our transition into Reception. It was lovely to see you enjoying the activities with your children and having fun during story time with Sarah a.k.a. The Pink Lady!

As part of the recent History topic, Year 5 have been learning all about the Suffragettes - who these women were, why they protested and the outcomes of their protesting. To complete their History unit, they made banners and became Suffragettes with a protest around the school.

Congratulations to our Mathletes of the Week. Brilliant work once again to be the top scorer in each of our year groups.

Great work from the children completing the Lexia reading programme. Some with 2 certificates, amazing!
