Established in 1964 Scarisbrick Hall School offers a truly unique combination of outstanding independent education and pastoral support, within the truly inspirational Grade 1 Listed Scarisbrick Hall. First school (reception to Year 4)
Children in our First School (Reception through to Year 4) enjoy the benefits of a nurturing environment that caters for their academic, social and moral development. Our supportive ethos helps develop your child as a whole and we pride ourselves on our high academic standards. The benefit of small class sizes, high quality teaching and an outstanding environment all support and prepare our youngest pupils for their academic careers. Specialist teaching and the use of a Creative Curriculum helps us build upon many of the expectations of the Early Years teaching, where children learn in an environment that is stimulating and rich with creativity and imagination. Skills are identified and used as a basis for planning an exciting and enriching learning programme. Children are enthused and enjoy their learning, thus becoming more successful and confident pupils. Middle School (Year 5 to Year 8)
Children in our Middle School will receive the same development and standards that we expect in our First School, but they will be encouraged to take more responsibility for themselves and their own learning. Children develop at different rates and in different ways, so by creating more appropriate steps along their educational pathway we will be able to provide a more gradual transition. As children move into Middle School (Years 5 through to 8) they are already beginning to find their place in the rich and stimulating world we live in. They are becoming more aware of both themselves personally and of those around them. By giving them a level of responsibility, with guidance, we can offer them the best possible opportunities to learn. In Year 5 we introduce specialist subject teaching for Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Music, PE and two languages – French and Spanish. These same teachers will continue teaching them as they progress through Middle School – ensuring continuity of learning. Continual academic tracking of individual pupils allows us to monitor both progression and attainment and enables us to support every pupil in their drive to reach their true potential. Scarisbrick Hall College (Year 9 to Year 11)
At Scarisbrick Hall College we have a drive for academic achievement and a passion to see every individual develop as a whole person. Our unique curricular and co-curricular programme encourages students to develop leadership, academic achievement, teamwork, as well as their overall well-being. Our philosophy of teaching and learning is built upon the belief that every student is unique. We believe that every student has the ability to learn and progress, our role is to create the atmosphere for this to happen. We actively encourage every student to evaluate their own learning strengthening their ability to critically reflect. Our academic curriculum is delivered through our five faculty areas (English, Mathematics, Humanities and Languages, Performance, Sciences). These faculty areas cover the core knowledge required for students to progress. Each of the faculty areas offer enrichment programmes for gifted students as well as support classes for those who require more time on a subject. At Scarisbrick Hall we deliver a three-year GCSE programme starting in Year 9. At the end of Year 8 student select their options, under the guidance of our careers adviser as well as the Faculty staff. This three-year programme enables students to study the topics in greater depth and to a higher academic standard.
