⭐️ What an amazing idea for children to meet friends before they start school ⭐️

📚 🏫 A list of schools and dates for our Reception starter play sessions in August 🖊️

A lovely opportunity for your little ones to meet some of their new classmates, and for you mums/dads/super grans etc to meet the parents that you’re going to bump into every morning for the next 7 years on the school run!

We have limited places on these sessions. Newby and Seamer are almost full already 🏃

On Wednesday (Global Recycling Day) Mick from Keep Scarborough Tidy joined us at Little Learners Nursery and Preschool. He told the children about the importance of throwing rubbish in the bin because it hurts our wildlife and sea creatures if it is thrown on the floor. The children were passionate about keeping animals safe throughout the talk, stories and looking after the teddy birds (which made the sound of the actual bird). They talked excitedly about not throwing their rubbish on the floor while picking up (clean) litter that Mick had kindly brought for the children to pick up safely.

Children joined in sensibly and safely while picking up the litter. Using the pickers was tricky but all children persevered and never gave up; every child was successful! They showed fantastic team work and their passion was amazing to see.

As Mick was finishing his talk, the refuse collectors came to collect the bins on our street (perfect timing). They allowed us to take a pictures of the lorry and we talked about the importance of their job, collecting people's rubbish to keep our world tidy and our animals safe.

Thank you to Mick for an amazing talk and inspiring our Little Learners to look after our world. Thank you to Scarborough Council refuse collectors for taking time to engage with our children.

🦊 Job Opportunity – 22.5 Hours per Week 🦊

Cook & Midday Supervisor

We are looking for a warm, reliable and organised person to join our busy nursery team as a Cook and Midday Supervisor. A genuine enjoyment of working with young children is essential.

Hours:
Monday to Friday – 10:30am to 3:00pm
We are open 50 weeks a year.

About the Role:
You will prepare healthy, age-appropriate meals following our 3-week rolling menu (full training provided). We will also provide Food Hygiene and Allergy Awareness training.

Once lunch is prepared, you will work alongside our childcare practitioners to support children during mealtimes—helping to create a calm, safe and sociable environment, encouraging independence, and building positive mealtime routines. Being patient, nurturing and confident around children is important for this part of the role.

Requirements:
Enjoy working with young children
Understand the importance of developing independence
Willingness to undertake training

Safeguarding our children is paramount to us - the successful will complete a disclosure and barring check (DBS) and will be required to provide two references.

We are excited to be welcoming lots of new little learners into our nursery. To make sure every child gets the best care and attention, we are looking for a passionate, dedicated and experienced Level 3 Early Years Practitioner to join our team.

We open 7.45am until 6pm, 50 weeks a year (shutting for 2 weeks at Christmas).

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualised care and support to children, promoting their emotional, social, and physical development.
- Plan and deliver engaging and stimulating learning activities that cater to children's individual needs and interests.
- Observe, assess, and record children's progress and development, using various methods to inform planning and practice.
- Maintain open and effective communication with parents, colleagues, and other professionals.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to create a positive and supportive environment for children to thrive.
- Work with colleagues, other professionals and parent/carers to ensure the ongoing safety of children.
