It's Skills for Life Day this National Cadets Week and the students have been busy with PLT's this afternoon. We also had a chance to speak to some of our cadets about the skills they have gained from CCF.
Leading Hand Cadet Frederiksen said, "I have been in cadets for three years and while that may seem a small speck in the span of my life the effects haven’t been small, because of CCF I have learnt all about the Royal Navy fleet and developed skills I never knew I had."
Leading Hand Cadet Wood added, "During my time through cadets, I have learned lots of skills, teamwork, commitment and discipline, but the one skill that has helped the most is my public speaking that I use every day without realising, I think it's a good skill for all young people to have."
Ordinary Cadet White echoed Cadet Wood's sentiments, "In cadets, I've gained the skill to be able to speak clearly in front of a group of people. This is a good skill I could use in life because I can form new friendships and make new connections without showing myself up. This skill came in use during the summer when I was at BRNC leading me to form strong friendships with my peers."
Chief Petty Officer Cadet Winchcombe said, "During my time in Scarborough UTC CCF I have learnt leadership skills which are transferable to outside curricular activities that I participate in. Cadets is important to me because it allows me to create new friends across the UK." Cadets In Schools
