Small-group tuition can make a BIG difference 💙

Research from the Education Endowment Foundation found that small-group tuition is associated with around 4 additional months of progress, on average, over a year.

And with September approaching, I now have just a handful of spaces available at The Little Study Spot:

📚 Year 2 – 3 spaces available
✏️ Year 5 – 2 spaces available
🎓 Year 6 – 2 spaces available

My groups are intentionally kept small, with a maximum of 4 children, so every child still receives plenty of individual support while benefiting from learning alongside others.

Sessions are engaging, confidence-building and tailored to the needs of the children in the group — with plenty of games and activities alongside focused teaching. 🌟

All other year groups are currently waiting-list only. If your child’s year group isn’t listed, you’re very welcome to message me to register your interest and I’ll contact you when a suitable space becomes available.

💛 This message completely made my day.

When I started The Little Study Spot, I had one goal…

✨ To make children look forward to learning.

I never want tutoring to feel like “extra school.” I want children to leave each session smiling, feeling more confident, and excited to come back.

So receiving a message like this, saying the boys were disappointed I wasn’t coming and even asked if they could have another session that week, is honestly the biggest compliment I could ask for. 🥹

Every child learns differently, which is why my sessions are packed with games, movement, hands-on activities and personalised learning to help build both confidence and academic skills.

Watching children realise that learning can be fun is exactly why I love what I do. 💙

If you’re looking for a tutor who will not only support your child’s reading, writing or maths but also help them enjoy learning again, I’d love to help.

📚 September is one of the best times to start tutoring.

A new school year is a fresh start. It’s the perfect opportunity to build confidence, strengthen key skills and close any learning gaps before they become bigger challenges later in the year.

Whether your child’s school report suggested they:
✨ Need a little extra support
✨ Lack confidence in maths or English
✨ Are working towards age-related expectations
✨ Or are capable of achieving even more with the right challenge…

Early support can make a real difference.

At The Little Study Spot, I offer small-group tutoring designed to be engaging, confidence-building and tailored to each child’s needs.

🍎 September availability for Years 1–6
Some groups are already nearly full, so if you’re thinking about tutoring this autumn, I’d recommend getting in touch sooner rather than later.

If you’re unsure whether tutoring is the right fit, I’m always happy to have a chat and answer any questions.

📚 School reports are out… now is the perfect time to look ahead to September.

For many children, school reports are a celebration of everything they’ve achieved this year. ❤️

But if your child’s report mentioned confidence, reading, writing or maths as an area to develop, now is a great time to put support in place before the new school year begins.

👋 Hi, I’m Charlotte – a qualified primary school teacher and founder of The Little Study Spot in Cayton, Scarborough.

I provide fun, engaging small-group tutoring that helps children build confidence, close learning gaps and enjoy learning again.

🍂 September group bookings are now open across a range of primary year groups.

☀️ I also have a small number of summer spaces remaining for:
✨ Year 1
✨ Year 2
✨ Year 5

Whether you’re looking to give your child a confidence boost over the summer or secure a place ready for September, I’d love to help.

Did you know this? 👀

Children who don’t meet the expected phonics standard in Year 1 are four times more likely to fall behind in reading by Year 2.

The good news? Early intervention can make a huge difference.

If your child lacks confidence with reading, struggles to blend sounds, or you’d simply like to give them a boost before September, the summer holidays are the perfect opportunity.

📚 Limited Summer tutoring spaces available:
✅ Year 1
✅ Year 2
✅ Year 5

All other year groups are now full for the summer.

My sessions are fun, engaging and tailored to each child’s individual needs, helping them build both skills and confidence in a relaxed environment.

📩 Message me to find out more or to reserve one of the remaining spaces before they’re gone!

MYTH: “Tutoring is only for struggling kids.”
✅ TRUTH: Tutoring isn’t just for children who find learning difficult—it’s for ANY child who could benefit from extra support, a confidence boost, or even a challenge beyond the classroom!

Here’s how tutoring helps ALL learners:
🔹 Boosts confidence – A child who feels unsure in class can build skills in a stress-free setting.
🔹 Fills knowledge gaps – Even bright students can have weak spots they need help with.
🔹 Provides stretch & challenge – High-achievers thrive when given extension tasks beyond the curriculum.
🔹 Supports different learning styles – Some children need a more hands-on or personalised approach.

📌 My tutoring groups are completely fluid – meaning your child isn’t restricted to their school year! If they need more challenge, they may suit a Year 6 group even if they’re in Year 5. Likewise, if they need to revisit key skills, they’ll be placed where they feel most comfortable and can progress at their own pace.

Every child learns differently, and tutoring is about unlocking potential – not just “catching up.”

🏡 Why do I start with a home visit?

One of the questions I get asked most often is why I visit families before a child joins The Little Study Spot.

The answer is simple: every child is different.

A home visit gives me the opportunity to:

⭐ Meet your child in a familiar environment
⭐ Find out their strengths and areas for development
⭐ Learn about their interests and personality
⭐ Understand any additional needs or concerns
⭐ Make sure they’re placed in the right group

It also gives parents the chance to ask questions and get to know me before sessions begin.

The information I gather helps me tailor sessions to each child from day one, so they’re not just joining a tutoring group—they’re joining a learning experience designed with them in mind.

Some of the most valuable information I learn about a child doesn’t come from a test. It comes from a conversation.

One of the first things a parent said to me recently was:

💭 “I’m worried tutoring will feel like more school.”

And honestly, I completely understood.

After a full day at school, the last thing I want is for children to come to tutoring and spend an hour completing worksheets at a desk.

That’s why I created The Little Study Spot differently.

Of course we work on reading, writing and maths.

But we also use:

🎲 Games

🔓 Padlocks

💎 Treasure chests

⚽ Active challenges

🎨 Creative activities

🐶 Children’s interests

Because when children enjoy learning, they’re far more likely to engage with it.

The goal isn’t just better results.

It’s helping children feel confident, capable and excited to have a go.

One of my favourite things is hearing a child ask:

✨ “Can I come again next week?”

👋 Hi, I’m Charlotte.

I thought I’d take a moment to properly introduce myself for anyone new here.

I’m a qualified primary school teacher and the founder of The Little Study Spot.

After years of teaching in the classroom, I started tutoring because I wanted to create the kind of learning environment where children feel supported, confident and excited to learn.

At The Little Study Spot, sessions are designed to be engaging, practical and tailored to each child’s needs. Whether we’re working on reading, writing or maths, my goal is always the same: to help children realise they’re capable of more than they think.

One of the best parts of my job is seeing a child go from saying “I can’t do it” to “Can I try another one?”

Those moments are exactly why I do what I do ❤️

Thank you for following along and supporting my small business.

“They’re only little once… but the foundations they build now can last a lifetime.”

Research from the Education Policy Institute found that by age 7, nearly 60% of the attainment gap seen at age 11 has already developed.

That’s a powerful reminder that the early years of primary school matter.

It’s often not about children being unable to learn. Sometimes they simply need a little extra support, confidence, or practice before small gaps become bigger barriers.

Whether it’s:
📚 Learning to read fluently
🔤 Building phonics knowledge
➕ Developing number sense
💭 Growing confidence in the classroom

Early intervention can make a huge difference.

At The Little Study Spot, I create engaging, hands-on tutoring sessions that help children build strong foundations while enjoying learning.

✨ Small group sessions
✨ Qualified primary teacher
✨ Creative, practical activities
✨ Tailored to children’s interests
✨ Confidence-focused approach

Because every child deserves to feel capable, confident and successful.
