We're continuing to celebrate the fantastic achievements of students following this year's GCSE Results Day.

A huge congratulations to Mike, who achieved an outstanding 10 GCSEs at Grades 8 and 9 while balancing an exceptionally busy programme of school musicals, sport and his role as a lead speaker in the TEDx Youth Conference.

A huge well done to our Headmaster, Mr Emmett, who yesterday represented the England Lions Over 40s as they took on the MCC Secretarial XI at Hartlepool Cricket Club.

Mr Emmett bowled an impressive spell of seven overs and picked up one wicket for 27, as the MCC scored 257 in 45 overs.

Sadly, the England Lions fell just 23 runs short of the MCC’s total of 257, but what a fantastic achievement to represent your country! Mr Emmett will be hoping to earn selection to play against Australia in a World Series.

Following on from last week’s GCSE Results Day, we’re taking a moment to celebrate some of the fantastic success stories from across Scarborough College.

We’re incredibly proud of Pip, who achieved an outstanding Grade 9 in Physical Education.

Alongside her studies, Pip has been balancing academic life with captaining the England U16 Hockey team and representing her country in the prestigious 8 Nations Series in Ireland.

We are delighted to celebrate an outstanding set of GCSE results from our Class of 2026, achieving the highest overall examination results at the College since 2016.

Over 92% of grades were 9–4, with an exceptional value-added score of 1.18 per subject and nearly 90% of pupils achieved at least five grades 9–4, including English and Maths.

This year’s cohort has combined outstanding academic achievement with the sport, performing arts, outdoor learning and wider opportunities that define life at the College.

Congratulations to all our Year 11 students, many of whom will be returning to study the IB Diploma in September.

From Ardèche to Paris, Sledmere to the Lake District, Activity Week took our pupils on unforgettable adventures and we're looking back at some of the highlights.

Back at school, pupils threw themselves into a range of activities, including footgolf, boot camps, surfing, first aid and Community Action Day, where they made a real difference in the local community.

While many schools are celebrating impressive A Level results, we continue to reflect on the achievements of our IB Diploma students, who received their points score over five weeks ago.

With a record number of students achieving 40+ points (equivalent to four A* grades) and a highly impressive value-added score of 0.8 per subject, our Class of 2026 are now looking ahead to life beyond Scarborough College. Their destinations include London School of Economics, Durham, Manchester, King’s College London, Exeter, Nottingham and other Russell Group Universities. We have students who are going onto much sought after degree apprenticeships and have secured places at some of the finest global universities.

Today, we are also celebrating our BTEC Sports results, for students who study the diploma alongside their IB subjects. 2026 marks the best year yet for BTEC grades, including several distinctions.

Since IB results day, it has been confirmed that our Head of School Anouk, has achieved 40 points and a place at Durham. In addition, Jess has secured a place studying Veterinary Science at Nottingham University and Lois and Ingrid will be studying medicine at HYMS and Exeter respectively. These might not be the most exciting photos but as you can see, the new floor is down in Lisvane Hall.

Every new addition and feature is helping to create a space where future students will perform, create and grow their confidence. From musical productions to TEDx talks, each event will take place in this fantastic theatre.

And you can help bring that vision to life.

As we head towards the middle of the summer holidays, it's a great opportunity to reflect on another outstanding year of sport at Scarborough College.

Across the academic year, our students competed in over 700 fixtures across more than 100 teams, while an increasing number earned county, national and international honours.

Girls' sport has continued to go from strength to strength, highlighted by a historic milestone as Dani became the first female student to score a century for the college.

We are already looking forward to the new academic year and can't wait to see our students once again represent Scarborough College and build on another year of outstanding success.
