While we strive for academic excellence, we believe a fulfilling education should also provide a wide range of sporting, cultural and social activities to broaden horizons and to build self-confidence. Although the ethos of the College is firmly based upon wholesome traditional principles we have a progressive approach to education, which has led to us offering the International Baccalaureate in our Sixth Form, a qualification that is acknowledged throughout the world. Last but not least there is our location. Our beautiful campus overlooks the spectacular North Yorkshire coast and the popular seaside town of Scarborough. Today, the Scarborough College community came together for Hello Yellow Day in support of YoungMinds, raising awareness of mental health and the importance of looking after one another.

At Scarborough College, our focus is on creating a school environment where everyone feels supported and cared for. This is particularly important in a world where one in five young people have experienced a probable mental health issue.

School Counsellor Kev Riley is a vital part of our pastoral team. We spoke with him to discuss the support he offers to students and staff throughout the year, and the importance of talking openly about mental health.

Throughout this week, our students led assemblies, performed, organised a bake sale and wore yellow to raise awareness of the cause. Thanks to everyone’s generosity, £847.67 was raised for YoungMinds.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and supported this important cause.

Congratulations to Year 11 Hugo and his brother Ben, who have been named Young Songwriter 2026 winners for the UK & Ireland 16 to 18 category.

Performing as their band String ’n’ Bone, the talented brothers impressed with their original song, ‘The Kid’.

As winners, Hugo and Ben receive the Song Academy trophy, a recording session with producer Charlie T, and a home recording set up from Focusrite.

Yesterday, 430 of our pupils took part in Restart a Heart Day, learning vital CPR skills that could one day help save a life.

We welcomed a team of volunteer ambulance crew, medical students and nurses, who generously gave up their time to teach our students these essential skills.

A special thank you to Jason Carolyn MBE, Community Engagement Manager at Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS, for running the session, sharing his expertise and taking the time to answer our pupils’ questions.

Our Prep School Year 1 pupils have continued their exciting journey towards becoming 'real pirates' and this time last week, they took to the seas aboard the Hispaniola Pirate Ship!

Their pirate adventure has been building throughout the first weeks of term as they've been on a treasure hunt around school, written messages to Pirate Pete Plank, and even created their very own pirate recipes.

Our Year 8 students have been putting their Physics knowledge to the test as they investigated buoyancy, upthrust and weight.

Working in teams, they designed and modelled their own boats, testing how surface area affected the mass each boat could hold before sinking.

The students then put their designs to the test, with Rupert’s boat holding an impressive 1.12 kg, while Phoebe and Hollie managed 600g.

Our Year 11 Drama pupils enjoyed a fantastic trip to London over the weekend, with the highlight being the opportunity to watch two West End productions, The Play That Goes Wrong and Beetlejuice.

They also had the time to do some shopping as well as taking in some of the amazing street art on show in Covent Garden.

Performing arts continues to go from strength to strength at Scarborough College. Our new Lisvane Hall Theatre development opens this term and will play host to three drama productions this academic year, as well as concerts and recitals.
