“I just want to play computer games…”

That’s probably the sentence we hear most often when children first arrive at Krash Labs.

And that’s absolutely fine because gaming is what brings many of them through the door. And we understand and support their interest because we love gaming too!

What they don’t realise is everything else they’ll end up trying along the way.

This week we’ve had children making their own hummus, talking about healthy eating and nutrition, planting seeds, learning about sustainability, and even writing code on BBC micro:bits to monitor soil moisture. Another member decided they wanted to design a character for a D&D campaign, so they jumped onto 3D design software and started creating it.

The best part is none of this feels like a lesson.

Throughout the summer we’re mixing gaming with all sorts of experiences. Some involve movement through VR, Ring Fit and other gaming activities. Others encourage creativity, coding, food preparation, electronics or making things. Children often tell us, “I wouldn’t normally do that…” and then before long they’re completely engrossed.

That’s what Krash Labs is all about.

We use technology as the starting point, but it’s really about building confidence, friendships, creativity, healthy habits and having fun with others.

We’re proud to be a gaming club designed to support neurodivergent children, while being fully inclusive and accessible to everyone. Every child is different, so every session looks a little different.

Summer Tech & Gaming Holiday Club at Krash Labs!

Looking for an exciting indoor activity this summer?

Join us at Krash Labs, based on the ground floor of Scarborough YMCA, for a fun-filled holiday club where young people can game, create, learn and make new friends in a fully inclusive and accessible environment.

Morning Sessions (Ages 8–12)
Our morning sessions are incredibly popular and are now operating a waiting list. If you’d like to join the waiting list, please get in touch.

Afternoon Sessions (Ages 10–16)
We still have limited spaces available, but they’re filling quickly!

Every session includes:

Celebrating some fantastic work from our work experience student

Last week, Enzo joined us for a week of work experience where we aimed to give him an experience that reflected a real creative and digital workplace.

We worked together to develop a design brief, planned the project using project management tools, created schedules and milestones, and then set about delivering the work.

The result? Three brilliant pieces of artwork that stayed true to Lorenzo’s own distinctive style while successfully meeting the brief we’d set.

You may have already spotted one of his creations in our previous post… but did you find the hidden character from Meccha Chameleon?

We’re incredibly impressed with what Lorenzo achieved in such a short space of time and we’re grateful he chose to spend the week with us. It’s been fantastic watching his confidence and skills grow.

If you’re looking for an artist for a creative project, we’d be more than happy to put you in touch with him.

We’re also always keen to support young people through meaningful work experience. If you’re interested in placements relating to gaming, technology, digital skills, creative media, we’d love to hear from you. We can support both in-person and remote placements.

Finally, we’re always looking for volunteers. If you’re aged 16+ and have a passion, hobby or skill you’d love to share with children (8–18) and young adults, please get in touch. We’d love to welcome you to the team!

What if your child's biggest interest isn't football...

Or dance...

Or traditional clubs?

What if it's gaming?

Technology.

Building.

Creating.

Designing.

Coding.

What if they just haven't found their people yet?

That's why Krash Labs exists.

We don't try to be the biggest club.

In fact, we intentionally keep our groups small.

Small groups mean conversations.

Conversations become confidence.

Confidence becomes friendships.

And that's where learning really starts.

The funny thing is...

Because we're busy running sessions, we aren't very good at telling people about them or posting on social media.

We also choose not to fill our social media with photos of the attending children. Their privacy is more important than our marketing.

So this is one of those rare posts.

We currently have spaces available in our Wednesday and Saturday sessions.

For £35 per month, your child can attend one session every week. If they miss a session, we'll always do our best to help them attend another one where space allows.

With a qualified Food Technology and Design Technology teacher joining us, young people will also explore healthy Food choices, growing, product design, textiles, leatherworking and practical making alongside all the technology they already love.

We have fully funded Summer Holiday Club places available through the Holiday Activities and Food Programme HAF every Tuesday and Wednesday for ages 8 - 16 with

We'll also be running FREE Warhammer workshops where young people can learn to build, paint and play and take their miniature home afterwards as part of the Warhammer Alliance programme.

We love our tech, but we’re not all computers
Alongside gaming, we’ve got board games, card games, and space to play, chat, laugh, and just be.

If the weather’s miserable and you fancy getting out of the house, we’ve still got spaces this weekend:
