🦁 Conservation in action! 🌿

L6 Environmental Science students visited Flamingo Land Zoo to learn all about conservation and captive breeding programmes, including a behind-the-scenes tour of the white-clawed crayfish aquarium led by the Education team’s zoologists.

They also explored the zoological gardens, investigating the conservation status of incredible species, from Sumatran tigers and Arabian oryx to rhinos, giraffes, lemurs and many more! 🐅

Our S6F Travel students visited Flamingo Land to discover the history behind the park and explore what goes on behind the scenes to keep it running!

From operations to the park’s development, it was a great opportunity to see the tourism industry in action.

🦆 Exploring Environmental Science at Tophill Low!

Our U6 Environmental Science students visited Tophill Low Nature Reserve near Driffield for some hands-on fieldwork. They spent the morning pond dipping at the Reception Pond, using aquatic invertebrates to calculate a biotic index and assess water quality.

The results? Excellent water quality and plenty of fascinating invertebrates to discover! 🐛🌿
