Extreme Kickboxing Scarborough We are proud to be one of Scarborough's oldest martial arts clubs, with instructors who bring decades of experience across a variety of martial arts styles.

We are members of the World Association Of Kickboxing Organisations (WAKO) At Extreme Kickboxing Scarborough we believe that martial arts isn't just about fitness - it's about building confidence, discipline, respect and resilience. Our training helps children and adults alike boost self-esteem, improve physical health, and release those all-important feel-good hormones. Our club instructors are

Symon Elliott - Black Belt 4th Dan
Michael Robinson - Black Belt 1st Dan

Alongside them our founder James "Shane" Kirton who is a 4th Dan black belt and a multi time World and European gold medallist across multiple disciplines. Shane regularly attends classes to teach from his wealth of knowledge and experience. We offer a wide range of sessions tailored for all ages and abilities, including:

Kids' classes (from 8yrs)

Adults' classes

Female-only self-defence

Situational self-defence

Tuesday - The Street, William Street Coach park. Kids 6pm - 7pm £20 (4 sessions)
Adults 7pm - 8pm £24 (4 sessions)

Thursday - The Street, William Street Coach park. Kids 6pm - 7pm £20 (4 sessions)
Adults 7pm - 9pm £24 (4 sessions)

First session is free then after that lessons must be pre-booked (blocks of 4 sessions) in advance. This can be blocks of just Tuesdays or just Thursdays or a combination of both. We have members from all walks of life and are more than a martial arts club, we are a community, a family. We support each other to push ourselves to be the best we can be not just inside the club but outside too. A huge well done to all of our students for Thursday night. An excellent display of kickboxing technique and syllabus knowledge! 👏🥋
Thursday was all about focus, discipline and precision, and everyone stepped up brilliantly. It was fantastic to see the hard work from weeks and months of training coming together.
Sharp basics and strong combinations throughout the standard across the club was outstanding. Most importantly, everyone gave their best effort and supported each other throughout the evening — exactly the kind of atmosphere we love to see in our club.
We are incredibly proud of every student who took part in grading. No matter the grade, stepping forward and testing yourself takes courage, and you all represented the club brilliantly.
Now it’s time to relax, recover and wait for those results! 👊🔥

Tuesday night’s grading stamina session was something special! 🔥💪
Every single student dug deep, pushed through the fatigue and showed exactly what martial arts is all about — resilience, determination and heart. From the juniors to the adults, the effort on display was incredible to watch.
There were moments where people were tired, legs were burning and lungs were working overtime… but nobody quit. That attitude is what makes progress happen and we couldn’t be prouder of everyone who stepped onto the mats and gave it everything they had.
Remember, grading isn’t just about technique — it’s about showing the spirit and mindset of a martial artist, and Tuesday night you all showed that in abundance.

This is your week to step up, push yourself and show how far you’ve come. Every class, every drill, every tough session we've had recently has been building towards this week!
To all of our students — kids and adults alike — remember that grading isn’t about being perfect. It’s about showing effort, determination, resilience and the attitude to never give up. Give it everything you’ve got and leave knowing you gave your absolute best.
Success isn’t just measured by belts and badges, it’s measured by courage, discipline and the willingness to keep improving. We already know how hard you’ve worked — now it’s time to believe in yourselves too.

This week at the club we took a well-earned break from the syllabus—and what a fantastic week it’s been!
Our junior members focused on fun, teamwork, fitness, and building resilience, showing great energy and support for one another throughout every session 👊
Meanwhile, the adults wrapped up the week in style, enjoying some of our more flamboyant techniques and bringing plenty of laughs along the way!
With grading just around the corner, now is the perfect time to keep sharpening those skills. A little practice at home alongside your training at the club will make a huge difference—we promise 💪

Yesterday our blackbelt grading took place under the watchful eye of our Grand Master Brian Beck.

It was such a proud moment for us as a club to watch Zain finally gain his 1st Dan blackbelt and fellow instructor Mike his 2nd Dan blackbelt. They both pushed themselves extremely hard throughout the 6 hours and proved that they have the techniques, endurance and sparring skills that it takes to get to that level. They absolutely smashed it. Well done to you both!

They were supported by some of our blackbelt and coloured belt students, who also did us very proud by working so hard, especially 10 year old Seth, our youngest student there, who refused to only do 3 hours of it and wanted to complete the full 6 hours like the adults! That is dedication!

And because they did so well, there were some extra belts awarded by Brian! Seth walked out with his orange belt, George with his purple belt, Jack and Nicolae with their blue belt.

Super proud of you all, proud of the effort you put in, your dedication to kickboxing and your positive attitude and respect towards coaches and fellow students alike.

More than just a legend on screen, Chuck Norris represents the values we strive to embody every day in our training: dedication, resilience, humility, and unwavering spirit. His journey through martial arts — from champion competitor to global inspiration — reminds us that greatness is built through consistency, hard work, and respect for the craft.
For many of us, he was an early inspiration — a symbol of what martial arts can achieve both physically and mentally. His legacy goes beyond his achievements; it lives in every student who steps onto the mat with determination and leaves stronger than they arrived.
