I’ve been a little quieter on social media recently, and I wanted to explain why.
The simple answer is… I’ve been busy doing what I love.
Most of my time has been spent supporting the children and families who come to The Sensory Booth. When I’m in a session, my focus is on the young person in front of me. That means I don’t always remember to take photos or think about creating content for Facebook—and honestly, I’m okay with that.
Over the last year, something quite amazing has happened.
What started as an idea has grown into something I never imagined. We’ve had the privilege of supporting so many incredible children and families, and we’re now at a point where our diary is almost full. It’s also the reason Megan is beginning to join The Sensory Booth, allowing us to support even more young people.
If I’m honest, there’s a part of me that still finds it hard to believe.
Sometimes I stop and wonder if I’m doing enough or whether I deserve to be here.
Then I remember that every family who has walked through our door has trusted us with the most important thing in their lives—their child.
That trust isn’t something I take lightly.
The Sensory Booth hasn’t grown because of clever marketing or advertising. It’s grown because of relationships, recommendations, and families sharing their experiences with others.
For that, I’ll always be incredibly grateful.
So, thank you.
Thank you to every family who has trusted us, recommended us, shared a post, or simply believed in what we’re trying to create.
Here’s to continuing to make a difference, one child at a time. 🌈

🌈 This looks like a fantastic event and one I’ll definitely be attending.
If you’re a parent, carer or professional supporting children and young people with SEND, it looks like a great opportunity to hear from some brilliant speakers, meet other families and professionals, and find out more about the support available locally.
I’m really looking forward to listening to the talks and meeting new people. I’m also hoping I might be able to have a table there to share some of the work we’ve been doing at The Sensory Booth.
Best of all, it’s free to attend, so if you’re available, it would be great to see you there! 😊🌈

Can I tell you something I’ve noticed after years of working with children?
The summer holidays mean different things to different families.
For some children, six weeks feels exciting.
For others, it can feel unsettling.
Routine disappears.
Friendships pause.
Worries about September start creeping in.
As a teacher, and now through The Sensory Booth, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside children who often find these long breaks the hardest part of the year.
Not because they don’t enjoy being at home.
But because confidence can disappear surprisingly quickly.
Sometimes parents tell me they’re worried their child will “fall behind” over the summer.
What I often see is something different.
Children don’t usually lose learning because they stop practising maths or English for a few weeks.
They struggle because they lose confidence.
Confidence in themselves.
Confidence in learning.
Confidence that they can cope with what’s coming next.
That’s why our summer sessions aren’t just about tutoring.
Sometimes the most important thing we do is rebuild confidence.
Provide consistency.
Be a trusted adult.
Create a space where a child feels safe enough to believe in themselves again.
If your child is moving into Year 7, starting a new school, returning after a difficult year, or would simply benefit from some additional support over the holidays, we’d love to help.
🌈 Summer sessions are now open.

Can I ask…
What are your biggest worries about the summer holidays or September? I’d genuinely love to know.

This image really resonates with me.
So many of the children and families I work with are not struggling because they don’t value education or because they don’t want to learn.
They’re struggling because learning has become linked with stress, anxiety, overwhelm or a feeling that they simply don’t belong.
When we stop asking, “How do we make this child fit the system?” and start asking, “What does this child need to feel safe, understood and successful?” everything can change.
Every child deserves an education that works for them. 🌈
This picture is probably the closest I’ve ever come to explaining what so many families tell me they feel.
You ask for help.
You explain your child is distressed.
You explain mornings are getting harder.
You explain school is becoming impossible.
And slowly you start hearing things like:
“But everyone else manages.”
“They seem fine here.”
“Have you tried…?”
“They don’t meet threshold.”
And before long…
you stop trusting yourself.
You start wondering if it’s you.
If you’re too soft.
Too anxious.
Too involved.
But what if your child isn’t the problem?
What if they’re not refusing to fit…
What if the box was never built for them in the first place?
That doesn’t mean school is bad.
It doesn’t mean teachers don’t care.
But sometimes we become so focused on getting children into the box that we forget to ask whether the box actually fits.
This is the core beneath Simplified Support.
This is who I am.
A parent carer.
A professional.
Someone who has sat on both sides and knows how confusing and lonely this can feel.
We talk about rights.
But we also talk about nervous systems.
Relationships.
Evidence.
What distress can look like.
How to work with schools where possible.
And what options exist when things stop working.
We run free workshops because everyone deserves access to information before they reach crisis.
If this resonates with you, please feel free to follow us.
You’re welcome here ❤️

🌈 A quick introduction ahead of summer sessions opening
At The Sensory Booth, our summer sessions will be delivered by both myself (Zach) and my wife Megan.
Megan is a qualified teacher working full-time in a specialist SEND school, with experience in autism support, Makaton, Attention Autism, phonics, and trauma-informed practice.
Having two practitioners means we can offer more flexibility for families over the summer holidays, depending on what works best for each child.
