🐘 The end of summer…. ☀️

How are you all doing? 😊 We’re out and about for a bit of family time and I’ve been reflecting a bit on the changing of the seasons… we’re nearly at the end of the summer, with September on the horizon!

The skies are changing… ⛅️ Where did the time go? 🍃

Lots of transitions my end at the moment. I’ve been rather busy lately supporting my Kent Test pupils as they prepare for their test on 10th September, and I will soon be saying goodbye to several of them! I’m grateful to have worked with such wonderful families and pupils.

Then, at the same time, I’m excited to be starting up with some new pupils in the coming weeks and supporting them on their learning journeys too!

Lots of good and bad, bittersweet. But I’m so grateful to do what I do! 😊

🐘 Did anyone manage to capture yesterday’s solar eclipse? 🌒

We didn’t have glasses over here but spotted some cool crescent moon patterns! 🌙 Do share any cool photos!!! 📸

🐘 Morning all! Not long until Wednesday’s Solar Eclipse! ☀️🐘

I’ll be using some of these simple techniques to watch the eclipse with my little one- without glasses! 🕶️ Have a look below 👇

☀️ No eclipse glasses? There are still some fun and safe ways for children to experience a solar eclipse! 🌙 From cereal box pinhole viewers to colander projections and watching crescent-shaped tree shadows, these simple ideas let little ones enjoy the magic without looking directly at the Sun. 💛

⚠️ Always supervise children and remember: never look directly at the Sun without certified solar viewing protection.

Happy Friday! 😊 How has your week been?

Nabbed this for this for free in TGJones the other day (still can’t get over the name change…will always be Smiths to me 🙈) so thought I’d share!

Love the Beano- takes me right back to my childhood when they cost only 40p 😎

Anyway, if you’ve got a comic loving little one, go check it out and grab a free copy! Comics are such a great way to get children into reading. 💥

Definitely feeling inspired to plan some comic themed sessions for my learners now…watch this space!

🐘 Learning Snapshot! 📸 🐘

Happy Wednesday! It’s getting hot again this week…hope you’re all managing ok in the heat!☀️

One of my favourite types of activities to do with reluctant writers is to encourage them to use drawing, art and design- it takes the pressure off of the writing itself and is fun and creative. I love seeing the fantastic imaginations of my students 😊

Here’s a few recent summer themed writing and design activities…football kits ⚽️, water pistols 🔫 and water parks 🏊‍♀️! Perfect for the summer. 😄

We've had so much fun on our Underwater Worlds Creative Writing course over the last few weeks! 🐟

🌊 So far we've been diving into descriptive settings, discovering a mysterious lost underwater kingdom, and creating our very own sea creatures, each with their own unique adaptations and personalities.
