A huge thank you to everyone who was able to come along and join our OPAL afternoon today. It was wonderful to welcome so many families into school. In addition to the information Mrs Nilsen-Graham gave about our ongoing OPAL journey we hope parents and carers enjoyed the chance to see Broadlea’s OPAL in action.
Our dedicated Year 6 childrens’ bake and soft toy fundraising sale was a phenomenal success, raising £385 to be split between Cancer UK and our sandpit fund.
After collating and sorting the soft toys the children labelled many of them so the new owners would know a little more about the new friend they were taking home. A very special thank you must also be said to Zack’s mum, Kelsey who baked over 200 cakes for the event!

We are so grateful to the support of our wonderful school community. There are a few remaining cakes and soft toys which will be available after school tomorrow on a first come basis!

Today, Bee Class had a very exciting adventure walking to Morrisons to buy the ingredients needed to make their very own hedgehog bread rolls, as part of their Harvest Festival learning.

We were incredibly proud of how brilliantly everyone behaved. The children listened carefully to the adults, followed instructions and represented our school beautifully.

The children were so well behaved that they were even given the opportunity to scan their own shopping at the till, what an exciting experience!

A huge thank you to Morrisons for being so welcoming and accommodating during the visit. Also a big thank you to our parent and governor volunteers - we couldn’t have done it without you!

Back at school, the children couldn’t wait to get started and were very excited to taste their delicious hedgehog rolls in the afternoon!

Berry Hill will be giving bereaved families the opportunity to come together between 9th October - 15th October by hosting a ribbon display and a variety of donation options.

This special week is represented by its blue and pink ribbon logo which has been used to inspire many sand supports across the UK to come together to remember their babies and loss. We invite all families who wish to take part in our display by adding a ribbon of your choice (blue, pink and white) with your babies name and/or message so we can unite together our loved ones lost too soon.
Alongside our ribbon display we will be taking part in the wave of light on 15th October to mark the end of awareness week; Candles (battery) will be available for a donation to personalise and Berry Hill will light these in the evening of 15th.

Thursday 15th October we invite all children and staff to wear pink and/or blue to mark the end of the week.

Sands like many other charities we support holds a special place in our hearts; for all our staff and families who have experienced baby loss. Donna has requested this charity be added to our list we support throughout the year as they have supported her so much and she feels ready to support others and raise awareness of the support on offer.

Donna as many may know gave birth to a beautiful baby girl Teagan in 2023.
Teagan devastatingly lost her battle and gained her wings shortly after her arrival 💜

You will find Donna at the front of Berry Hill so please feel free to speak with her for any support, to contribute by adding a ribbon or just a general chat. If you do not wish to attend in person or cannot make it please leave a comment below or email [email protected] and we can add a ribbon for you.

All donations welcome and these will be going towards the Isle of Wight sands group 🩵 🩷 🤍

Serval class have been immersing themselves in 'hands-on' activities to learn all about the diet of the Mesolithic and Palaeolithic people as part of their history project. From dissecting poo to grinding oats, their learning has supported them to make comparisons, draw conclusions and produce some fantastic independent work - Well done Year 3!

We are especially proud of two members of our school community who have been recognised for their sporting talents and dedication. Daisy has earned the opportunity to attend weekly training sessions with Portsmouth FC and Paisley continues to train with her mainland gymnastics squad three times a week, recently achieving first place in a national competition.
What a fantastic achievement for them both, we will look forward to following their successes.
