Happy last day of this academic year 😱… What a very busy one it has been!
We have raised lots of money for new charities and learnt so much about the community around us! This includes topics that may be triggering or often not spoken widely around. Specifically SANDS and with Steve the Defib legend.
We welcomed our families to join us at Christmas time to make a Christingle. Our nursery turned into a Christmas wonderland and we visited our friends at the Barrow Boys to get our own fresh Christmas trees.
Chinese New Year came and went and we celebrated this through cooking, sensory exploration and dressing up. The children practiced using chop sticks and even made our very own horse parade costume.
We held our very first Ready, Steady, Listen week and raised an astronomical £1741.60 for books in our nursery. The children loved looking at the different books we could purchase and together we made a list of all of our choices. A firm favourite was the BIG books with the wind up cars 🥹 We spent the week of World Book Day sharing all of our favourite books and were even very lucky to have a new Island based author in to visits us in setting.
We have danced the year away with so many dance parties. Our teachers have taught us some great moves. We planned a very special day all about space and the universe around us. The children dressed up and the activities we got to do were out of this world. They really inspired a deeper level of thinking and learning.
The team have been working hard in the garden and planting area has seen lots of love and care, the children have enjoyed watching the fruits of our labour grow and change everyday. We have been able to harvest some of our foods and enjoy them during our snack times. We all took part in the Sunflower challenge even and took home our own sunflowers to try and grow for ourselves.
We have shared many special lunches from a roast dinner, to fish and chips and even homemade burgers with wedges. Our cooking activities have taught us so many processes and new skills. We weren’t too worried about our end products but more the ways in which we got there.
For People Who Help Us week we met so many professionals within our community that support us everyday. We all partied at Berry Hill Festival and the microphone made it very special for all of our brilliant performances. The sun did NOT stop our fun and heatwave week was full of ice to cool us down. Our Sports Day went ahead as planned and was all World Cup themed, we dressed for the occasion and put on our fast feet to the test.
We truly wish all of our families the best summer and CANNOT wait for the new adventures next year is going to bring us. Thank you so much for supporting us and being part of our Berry Hill community ✨
A reminder holiday club is open from Monday 3rd August to allow some well deserved time off for the staff. The first day of Autumn term will commence on Tuesday 1st September. We look forward to welcoming new and returning families back for lots of fun 🤩
