To explain Remembrance Day to our preschoolers, we use simple language focusing on the positive themes of remembering and being thankful for people who helped keep us safe, like soldiers. We encourage creative activities like making poppies to help them understand and connect with the meaning of the day. We also observed a quiet moment of silence together.

This week we have learnt about VE Day to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (VE Day)
We have enjoyed singing and dancing, playing traditional games and making some fantastic decorations for our preschool.
We had a baking day, and made a delicious Victoria Sandwich and scones ready for our street party style snack time, along with themed music, balloons and ribbons.
We explored VE day through stories and discussions and focused on the colours red, white and blue and the numerals 0 and 8 in our learning through craft, malleable play, songs and jigsaws.
