I've said it before and I'll say it again....it doesn't have to cost lots of money to entertain children!
Infact, sometimes the most fun can be had using the cheapest, and most random things.
Today we have used some plastic balls, a tray, some ribbon and some guttering. We started with a balance course where the children had to balance the balls on the tray while negotiating cones and crocodile bridges. Next we rolled the balls down the guttering and then the children tied their friends up with the ribbon!
Hours and hours of fun!

It's time for a trip to the farm to pick some fruit.
We picked strawberries and raspberries and saw a huge tractor, some red kite birds and several bumble bees.
We talked about what fruit and vegetables need to grow, and that the farmers work very hard to grow our crops.
Now we are eating our yummy fruit for lunch 😋

Our topic is "On the farm" and we have a farm visit booked in for this week so today I've set up a taste safe farm messy...

Our topic is "On the farm" and we have a farm visit booked in for this week so today I've set up a taste safe farm messy play. I've used wheetabix for hay bales and crushed them for the ground. Coco pops and milk make a great mud puddle for the pigs and the path is made of cornflakes.
Hours of fun for my little friends.

Here's a fun, no cost activity that my little friends just love....
I filled the tuff tray with warm water and washing up liquid and gave it all a vigorous mix with a whisk to make the bubbles. I added spoons, scoops and containers for lots of filling and emptying fun.
My little ones played for a long time, investigating and chatting about what they were doing. After a while, they started tipping the water onto the floor to make bubbly puddles to splashing.
Hours of fun!

We found lots of different colours, checked how deep the stream was using sticks, woke the troll under the bridge, balanced on fallen trees, found some mushrooms and talked about why we only eat mushrooms from the shop.

Every year my little friends plant vegetables in our garden. We water them and watch them grow, and then pick and eat them when they are ready. This year we have managed to grow potatoes and our tomatoes have just started to sprout. Unfortunately our lettuces, onions and pumpkins haven't grown. This was a great opportunity to teach the children that sometimes, things don't work out how you thought they would. It may have been the weather wasn't quite right for optimal growing this year, but we can always try again next year.
We are looking forward to harvesting our yummy potatoes and tomatoes though 😋

Another day spent soaking up the natural world around us. Our adventure included playing hide and seek, collecting purple petals, climbing fallen trees, collecting feathers and naming all of the colours we could see 😊
