Confession…. I know, I’ve used the “perfect” word here 🤦🏻‍♀️….

….If you’ve been here for a while, or been at one of my events or workshops, you’ll know that I loathe the word and the whole idea of being PERFECT

(it creates so much pressure to get things right and steals the joy of simply doing)

But actually, this venue IS perfect 😉

Which is exactly why I’ve created the CREATIVE RESET DAY for you to discover just how perfect it is

♥️ A day that starts at 10:30 and leads gently into a morning spent being guided to explore your own unique creativity

♥️ We’ll break for yummy lunch catered by

♥️ And then continue our journey where you create your own unique artwork on canvases

By 3:30 in the afternoon, you will be rested, relaxed & restored and not only have beautiful artwork, you will have gained an insight into your own beautiful creativity

There are now only a few spaces left, and I’d love if you joined us 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 Link to book:

PS I forgot to mention there will be cake 🍰 AND if you have zero experience in anything creative, it doesn’t matter ♥️

Studio or Beach?? Where would I rather be?

The answer may surprise you

I loathe admin and “boring” stuff like spreadsheets etc
And would far rather be painting

That’s no surprise at all 😉😜🤣

But without doing all the “boring” stuff , the other stuff couldn’t happen

Like organising every session and the new events & workshops which not only give you the time to explore your unique creativity, but it also gives me the joy of seeing so many explore & discover what they thought they couldn’t do ..

And that’s create

Which is exactly why I’ve created The Create Reset day - for you to relax, rest, reset and explore your own unique creativity

It’s on Sunday 13th September, 10am - 3:30pm in the beautiful location of thefarnhampottery

All the details are in the link in the bio

Sometimes you wobble…

Sometimes you wobble so much you end up diving straight into the sea (like me on my first ever time on a paddle board in the sea 😂)

And sometimes… you get to choose when you dive - comfortably off the edge of the boat 🩵

Looking back at the video of me standing on that paddle board, trying to find my balance, makes me think of how life can feel like that too…

Unsteady
Unpredictable
A bit wobbly

And maybe it’s not always about forcing ourselves to stay steady

Maybe it’s about trying, taking the plunge, and trusting we’ll come back up again

And then there are the moments when we choose to dive

Same action
Different feeling

One is “oh no, I’m falling”
The other is “I’m ready… let’s go”

And in between… there are the glimmers

Sunlight on the sea…My favourite sparkles on the water

Sun on your face, that feeling of being part of something bigger

Noticing the tiny moments that make you pause

Because life, and creativity, isn’t always steady

Paintings won’t always go to plan. Confidence will wobble. Colours will blur. You’ll wonder what you’re doing

But then there are the glimmers:
✨ when something suddenly works
✨ a brushstroke you love
✨ a moment of ease
✨ a quiet “I did that”
✨ the simple JOY of just making

At Canvas Club, creativity isn’t about perfection

It’s about trying 🫶🏻 Wobbling 🫶🏻 Playing 🫶🏻Noticing

And not waiting for things to feel perfect before you enjoy them

So here’s your reminder from the sea:

You don’t have to feel steady to begin…
Look for the glimmers ✨
And when you can…
dive in 🌊

If you’re ready to dive into Creativity, Canvas Club is where the glimmers are 🫶🏻

I came away with every intention of doing a proper digital detox: no Instagram, no posting, no scrolling

Just sunshine, sea and switching off
☀️🌊

But that’s not quite what happened

Because Instagram doesn’t drain me, it charges me…

I don’t doomscroll, I bloomscroll

I follow people who inspire, teach, make me think, or help me notice beauty in everyday moments (something I’m always prioritising. Sooo many photos of butterflies, clouds, all kinds of things that my family think I’m annoying with as need to stop and get the phone out. But to me, they’re ALL the moments)

My brain is always like: “Ooo, I want to share that”

I genuinely love sharing ideas and little moments of joy 🫶🏻

So no, I havent fully detoxed

BUT I am recharging

My mind feels lighter, my notebook (& sketchbook) is filling up with ideas, and I’m excited for what’s ahead… fresh energy, fresh inspiration, and more creativity🫶🏻

Do you digital detox, or does social media ever inspire you too?

it’s a gentle day

no rushing or expectations

just time for you to explore your Creativity, even if you think you’re not “arty”… everyone is welcome and experience doesn’t matter

Full guidance from me will be given throughout the day:
🫶🏻 A morning of gentle creative exploring using a choice of art materials in sketchbooks that will be supplied
🫶🏻 A yummy lunch
🫶🏻 An afternoon of creating your very own canvas

A wonderful way to reset & recharge after a busy Summer

Half the places have already been booked, so please don’t wait too long

PS payment plans available, message for details - book in the bio

A little lost in translation … I’m in Italy at the moment, where temperatures are around 32°C, so my insulin pen needs to stay cool whenever I’m out and about

Every evening I hand this little cooler pack to the hotel reception and, in my over explaining English involving hand gestures and lots of smiling, I ask them to please keep it in the freezer overnight

It took a few nights but now we’ve got a system….

They hand it back to me in the morning with this label attached

Google Translate tells me it says:

“Ice lollies for water bottle”

Um… not quite 😂

But, essentially they’ve understood what I need, even if some of the details have been… lost in translation

And it made me think about creativity and how so many people arrive at Canvas Club believing they “can’t paint”

It’s a bit like me trying to explain myself in Italian

The ability is there… we just don’t always speak the same language

That’s why every Canvas Club painting event and every painting kit is translated into simple, easy-to-follow stages:
🫶🏻One brushstroke at a time
🫶🏻One colour at a time
🫶🏻One clear instruction at a time

You don’t need to know the language of painting before you begin

My guidance does the translating for you 👩🏻‍🎨

By the end, you’ve gone from having a blank canvas to a painting you probably thought you couldn’t create

I give you techniques to help you, but no rules to limit you…because art doesn’t have rules (like languages)

There isn’t one “right” brushstroke

There isn’t one “correct” shade of blue

And there’s definitely no Italian required

Oh, and I’m not going to eat my “ice lolly”, I’m sticking to the pistachio ice cream 🍦 😋

What’s your funniest lost in translation story?
