Years 4 and 5 recently enjoyed an overnight camp at Charterhouse Outdoor Centre. We had a busy two days of caving, archery, rocket building, campfire and general fun! We pushed ourselves, challenged each other and found new ways to be proud of what we could achieve. Some of us even managed a little bit of sleep too! Here is a snapshot of our action-filled time away. ๐Ÿน๐Ÿ”ฅ

On Saturday 21st March. Milly B from our Hastings Class had her hair cut in aid of the Little Princess Trust, which is a charity that helps provide free real-hair wigs to children and young people experiencing hair loss due to cancer or other conditions. Since its inception, the Trust has provided thousands of wigs and invested millions in research.

She had a whopping 16 inches cut off, and we thinks she looks great - well done Milly!

On Wednesday 18th March, during lunchtime, we welcomed Shane from Kings Fitness and Leisure to promote their Aquathon (happening in the Summer Term) and Junior Parkrun (more details about how we will be involved with this will be out after Easter!). He sent up a course around the playground with children challenging themselves to run 12 laps which equated to a mile. Some children seemed to be running for all of lunch, with some KS2 children managing about 4 miles! It was a sunny, but breezy, way to spend lunchtime and we all enjoyed the music to keep everyone motivated! Well done Team Sandford!!โ€๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

On Tuesday 24th March, Hasting Class performed at the Playhouse in Weston as part of the NSSPEA's Dance Festival. The theme was 'Children's Literature' and our dances were to 'Paperback Writer' and a Peter Pan inspired 'Lost Boys'. The class were fantastic and really demonstrated their skills, after lots of hard work and rehearsals. For some, it was the first time on a stage, butwe are sure it won't be the last!

Year 6 Visit to Lifeskills!

Our Year 6 children recently had a fantastic and educational trip to Lifeskills in South Bristol. Lifeskills have created a realistic, interactive village within the Create Centre that helps children learn how to deal with potentially dangerous or difficult situations in a safe and supportive environment.
During their visit, the children experienced a variety of real-life scenarios, including road and railway safety, dealing with hazards in kitchens and living rooms, and learning about electrical safety at a substation. They also practiced making emergency phone calls and were introduced to some basic first aid techniques.
This hands-on learning experience was not only informative but also engaging, and the children thoroughly enjoyed their day. Staff at the centre commented positively on the group's conduct, noting how well they worked together and followed instructions. Their teacher was so proud of them - including their singing voices, on the coach, there and back! A big thank you to Lifeskills for providing such an important opportunity to help prepare our pupils for the real world.

Last weekend, Oli and Sam organised a fantastic โ€˜Lend a Handโ€™ day at Sandford Primary School.

Several parents and staff came together to paint, w**d, design, and build new stepping logs, all with the aim of smartening up the playground and the front of the school.

The school kindly provided food and drinks as a thank you, and an incredible amount was achieved in just a short space of time. It was a brilliant example of teamwork, community spirit, and what can be accomplished when we work together.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave up their time and energy to make such a positive difference ๐Ÿ‘โœจ

๐Ÿ โœจ Young Designers at Work! โœจ๐Ÿ

During the winter term, children across the school took part in a creative competition set by the building company responsible for the new housing development nearby. Their challenge was simple but exciting: design and create their own home!

We received so many fantastic and imaginative entries, showcasing brilliant creativity and thoughtful ideas. The building company had the difficult task of choosing winners and selected several outstanding designs from both key stages.

A huge well done to everyone who took part! ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ‰
