This week I had a student bring her own Dressmaking pattern, it is from ‘Shein’ 🙈 I didn’t even know they were producing them…
I was sceptical, thinking this will be interesting, firstly the paper they have used is quite stiff so pinning to fabric was not to easy for a beginner, but we worked with it, and also putting in ‘tailor tacks’ to transfer the darts positions, I always try not to tear the tissue paper you normally get with patterns, but with the brown paper Shein use, we had to leave a hole.
Other findings upto now, is they’d labelled up the patterns as both ‘BACK’ patterns 🙈thankfully it was just typo error.
Front armhole looks small to the back, but let’s see what happens when my student makes up the blouse in her next session 🙂🤞🏻

New Student today cutting out a top, fabric is in a Jersey stripe, so some matching to do at the side seams, but have every confidence in my student

One jumpsuit almost completed, we fitted the garment to make any adjustments which my student just want the shoulder straps shortening, so the front wrap over would not be too low, we then turn up the hem length…student is very happy with the overall fit as it now has length in the body for her 5ft 9inches height.. for yourself

Jumpsuit S9125 in work over the past few weeks, pattern amendments were made as my Students struggled to buy Jumpsuits as they were to short in the body, so we added length into the trousers seat, with patients the neck shape and armholes are a lovely shape, adjusted the back strap length by 4cm as felt the back length of the bodice was looking to long. Just the waist channel to do and add the elastic, hems to do and then it will be finished. fabric is a lovely viscose.

Recently made this Cushion Cover for a very dear friend for her 50th Birthday… 🧘🏼‍♀️
This was made ✂️ using appliqué stitch and ‘Free sewing’ stitches 🪡 and using bonded interfacing and used the function on my Brother machine to Embroider her name 🙂 🥰 and even put in one of my labels ‘Made in cheshire’ as it was being sent to Europe…🙂

Lovely to have a gentleman in the workshop, 🙂 this was a birthday treat from his Wife, such a lovely gift. Pete had done Sewing at College in his younger days. But a while since he’d done any sewing or made a garment using a Sewing pattern, so I measured him and then so we laid out the fabric, laid the pattern on and then cutting out the fabric and started making up the Joggers. A very productive morning and hoping Pete will have the Sewing 🧵 ✂️ 🪡 bug again in between juggling family life 🧒🏽 and work 💻
