Over the past 12 months, we have worked in partnership with Kier to support the development of a local workforce for the Crewe project. As part of our CSCS card training programmes, candidates have participated in a series of employer engagement and taster sessions designed to provide a clear understanding of the employment opportunities available on the project.
These sessions enabled candidates to meet directly with members of the Kier project team and subcontractors, gaining first-hand insight into the range of roles, career pathways, and skills required within the construction sector. The programme also included guided site visits, allowing participants to experience a live construction environment and develop a greater appreciation of the scale and nature of the project.
This collaborative approach has delivered significant benefits for participants by increasing their awareness of career opportunities, improving their confidence when engaging with employers, and strengthening their readiness to progress into employment. The partnership has also supported Kier’s commitment to developing local talent by creating a direct pathway between training and employment, helping to connect job-ready candidates with opportunities across the project
