🌞 Summer Holidays – Kids Eat Free & Low-Cost Meals 🍽️

With the summer holidays here, we know keeping little ones entertained (and fed!) can soon add up.

📍 Please see the list below for participating restaurants, cafés and supermarkets, along with any terms and conditions that may apply.

We hope this helps you make the most of the summer while keeping costs down. If you know of any other local offers we’ve missed, feel free to share them in the comments so we can help as many families as possible.

☀️ Wishing everyone a happy, safe and fun-filled summer

A great start to World Book Day! Some fabulous costumes based on our favourite book characters and lots of smiles. The children have enjoyed producing their own art work inspired by the book 'In Every House On Every Street' by Jess Hitchman. This afternoon is a reading café for parents and grandparents to enjoy with their children.

We are absolutely delighted to share the outcome of our recent SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) inspection at Smallwood CE Primary School.

The final report affirms that Smallwood “is living up to its foundation as a Church school and is enabling pupils and adults to flourish.” We are incredibly proud of this recognition.

The inspection highlights many strengths across our school community, including:

✨ A Christian vision that “resonates throughout the school, positively impacting decisions and actions.”
✨ Collective worship that “is welcoming and exudes a sense of joy… it challenges and inspires and allows spiritual curiosity to blossom.”
✨ The wealth of opportunities available to pupils, enabling them to discover and develop their talents.
✨ The exemplary behaviour of our children, shaped by our shared values.
✨ Smallwood being described as “a beacon of hope and love within the community.”

The inspector commented particularly on the warmth of relationships, the joy within worship, the inclusive nature of our curriculum and the way our children confidently “let their light shine.” We were especially proud of how beautifully the children spoke about their school, their faith and their role in making the world a better place.

The report belongs to our whole community — our wonderful children, our dedicated staff, our governors, our church partners and our supportive families. Thank you for the part you play in making Smallwood such a special place to learn, grow and flourish.

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, a time of preparation for the joy of Easter six weeks away. It is symbolized by receiving ashes in the shape of a cross on the forehead using burnt Palm crosses from last year and is followed by receiving Holy Communion.
