• Teaching Philosophy •
Gemma aims to tailor each lesson and programme of work to every student and understand their different strengths and ways of working. It is therefore our goal to find out how best to help each young person so that they can grow in confidence and ability, but also develop an enjoyment and enthusiasm for their subjects. First to build confidence and a solid foundation, creat
ing a strong and stable platform, which will then enable us to really test the boundaries and limits of their knowledge and way of thinking. It is our belief that every student has the potential to exceed expectations and we pride ourselves on nurturing that ability and giving them the tools to push and test themselves.
• Background •
As well as privately tutoring school age students towards their exams for several years, Gemma was previously a stipendiary lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry at Trinity College, University of Oxford for two years. During this time Gemma was also present on the interview panel for Trinity college, admitting undergraduate Chemistry students into the college. Gemma obtained her doctorate degree from the University of Oxford in 2018, with 2 years of research being carried out at Imperial College London. This experience conducting interviews for Chemistry at Oxford University gives her an inside view on what qualities are required for a successful University applicant. As such, she is well placed to help any student wishing to pursue Chemistry at University, especially in preparing for exams and Oxbridge interviews.
