Collin Care Nurseries are a member of a for the sector by the sector membership association called 2020 Together (We Can) (2020twc).

2020twc was established in 2017 to represent owners and directors of nurseries in the Private Voluntary and Independent (PVI) sector, with a focus on the 1140hrs funding proposals.

Back in 2017, 2020twc highlighted to government all the issues we as a sector would face because of such a rapid expansion, particularly of the Public Sector.

Unfortunately, the warnings went unchecked and the inequities we see today set in.

We have ended up with a funding model that favours public sector nurseries over PVI settings. Funding was supposed to follow the child, it doesn’t.

We’ve ended up with massive churn in staffing in the PVI as there is a huge pay gap between what we are funded to pay our staff in the PVI compared to what an equivalently qualified member of staff in the public sector is paid. PVI are funded to Real Living Wage – currently £12 per hour, whilst public nursery jobs start at £16 per hour, rates agreed with COSLA and the public sector unions.

The funding and pay gaps have led to all of our children in PVI nurseries being treated inequitably.

To address these three issues the members of 2020twc have self-funded a video to tell our story.

In the 3-5 room garden we have started to grow some of our own plants & vegetables. Carrots, tomato’s, potato’s , flowers , sunflowers and a variety of herbs.🥔🥕🍅🌻🌷

The boys & girls have been helping everyday to water out plants & vegetables and look after them😊

We are so excited to watch it all grow and try some of our vegetables & herbs once they are ready to use ❤️

👏👏We were so pleased for one of our Nurseries to present the Cash for Kids Mascot with a cheque for the amazing amount of £6,170.00 raised by all our staff, children and their families.

Thanks again to everyone who donated to this very worthy cause 😁😁

What an amazing day we have had, dancing, bouncy castle , face painting, karaoke, glow sticks and a special visitor MINNIE MOUSE 😁

The boys & girls in the 3-5 room are loving watching there sunflowers grow and change every day 💛

Another great session at beach schools this week🏖️🌊🐚

We built sand castles, explored the sea with our nets , explored the sea w**d and we found a baby crab🦀

This week our 3-5 room are learning about the life cycle of sunflowers 🌻

We have watched some videos and spoke about how we plant sunflowers and how we look after them to help them grow.

We then planted our own sunflower seeds and have sat them at the window to watch our very own sunflowers begin to grow🌻💛

What an amazing afternoon at beach schools 🏖️🐚🌊☀️

We followed all road safety codes when walking to the bus stop, holding the ladies hands, stop looking & listening before crossing the road and used our walking feet 🤩

We put our seatbelts on when on the bus and spoke about the things we could see out the windows🚌

We dug a huge hole in the sand & went back and forth to the water and filled up the hole we dug with our buckets of water 🪣

All the digging and splashing in the sea was thirsty work so we stopped for a well earned snack and a drink 🍪🥛

Beach schools 🏖️🐚🌊🪣

Todays beach school session explored the beach, scooping up the sand, filling buckets with sea water, looking for sea shells & building sand castles.

We are so lucky to have this rite at our door step ❤️

Easter egg counting tuff tray 🐣🪺

Today we used the counting bears to count how many we needed to add to each Easter egg to match the number at the top 😊
