End of Summer Term Newsletter

As we reach the end of another fantastic academic year, we would usually be sharing our own Saltash Community School end-of-term newsletter.

This year, instead, we are delighted to share the SMART Trust Summer Newsletter, which celebrates the achievements, events and successes from across all of the schools within our Trust.

We are incredibly proud that Saltash Community School features throughout the newsletter, showcasing just some of the many wonderful things our students and staff have accomplished this year. From academic achievements and sporting success to enrichment opportunities, community projects and memorable events, it has been another year full of moments to celebrate.

A huge thank you to our students, staff, parents, carers and the wider community for your continued support throughout the year. Together, we have achieved so much, and we hope you enjoy looking back at some of the highlights.

We wish everyone a safe, relaxing and well-deserved summer break, and we look forward to welcoming our students back in September for another exciting year.

Happy Summer from everyone at Saltash Community School! β˜€οΈπŸ’™

πŸ’™ TEAMS Week 2026 – What a Way to End the Year! πŸ’™

As we reach the end of another fantastic school year, we'd like to reflect on an incredible TEAMS Week.

Over the past week, our students have stepped outside their comfort zones, discovered new talents, built friendships and created memories that will last a lifetime. Whether they stayed in school, travelled across the UK or ventured overseas, every student has embraced the opportunities with enthusiasm, resilience and our TEAM values at the heart of everything they have done.

🌊 Students caught waves on our Surfing Safari, explored the stunning St Michael's Mount, and rounded off the week with marshmallows around a beach fire as the sun set.

πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ Our Spain Sports Tour was a huge success, with students competing against local football teams, exploring Marbella and Puerto BanΓΊs, and representing Saltash Community School with pride, respect and sportsmanship throughout.

🎿 Our Ski & Snowboard students continued to develop their confidence on the slopes, showing fantastic determination and resilience every day.

πŸ‡³πŸ‡± TEAM Netherlands completed exciting cave challenges, laser tag, underground adventures, a river cruise along the Maas, and even bounced through spectacular underground trampoline caves. Their teamwork received special praise from the activity leaders.

🎨 Back in school, our Key Stage 3 students have been wonderfully creative, making aromatherapy flowers, finger puppets, keyrings, bracelets and pocket pets, while showing fantastic behaviour and creativity throughout the week.

🎸 At Livewire, students formed their own bands, learnt new songs and performed with confidence at the end of the week – what an achievement!

Throughout every activity, one thing has stood out above all else... our students.

Your behaviour, kindness, resilience, teamwork and willingness to embrace new experiences have made us incredibly proud. You have been outstanding ambassadors for Saltash Community School, and you should all be proud of what you have achieved.

A huge thank you also goes to our incredible staff, who have dedicated their time, energy and enthusiasm to making TEAMS Week possible. From organising trips and activities to supporting students every step of the way, your commitment has made this week such a memorable success.

We hope everyone has a wonderful, safe and well-deserved summer break. Thank you for another fantastic yearβ€”we can't wait to welcome everyone back in September for another exciting chapter.

Have a brilliant summer! β˜€οΈπŸ’™

Another fantastic day of Year 10 and Year 12 Work Experience, with our students continuing to impress employers across Cornwall and Plymouth.

From healthcare and engineering to childcare, theatre, construction and business, our students have embraced every opportunity with confidence, professionalism and enthusiasm.

🌟 Some of yesterday's highlights include:

πŸ‰ TEAM 6th Form stepped into the world of entrepreneurship with their very own Dragons' Den challenge. Students planned, researched, designed, calculated and pitched innovative business ideas, with the fantastic ReWear Rewards app taking the winning spot. The Saltash Dragons were certainly 'in'! Well done to everyone who took partβ€”you should all be incredibly proud.

🏒 Ethan looked right at home working on reception at ARK, while Lily-Mai has been doing an amazing job at Pixieland Day Nursery, calmly caring for and supporting the children throughout the week.

🐾 Laila has been gaining invaluable experience at Woodlands Vet Hospital, observing operations and consultations, while Albert has been hard at work with Sovereign Scaffolding, learning the day-to-day operations of the industry.

🎭 Grace has enjoyed a varied placement with Devon Theatre Arts, supporting both evening performances and daytime workshops, experiencing every stage of theatre production.

πŸ₯ Lexie and Daisy (Year 12) have had an incredible opportunity at Oakside Surgery, shadowing a range of healthcare professionals, while Bradley (Year 12) has been developing his engineering skills at Rittal, designing components using specialist software before seeing them manufactured.

πŸ‘ Everywhere we've visited, employers have praised our students' positive attitudes, willingness to learn, confidence and professionalism. They have been fantastic ambassadors for Saltash Community School and have truly embodied our TEAM values.

A huge thank you to all of the businesses and organisations that have supported our students this week. Your guidance, encouragement and willingness to share your expertise are helping to inspire the next generation.

Well done to every student taking part in Work Experience Weekβ€”we are incredibly proud of you all! πŸ’™
