🏛️ We’re recruiting: Governance Professional to Trust Board and Local Governing Committees 🏛️

SMART Schools Trust is looking for an experienced and confident Governance Professional to support our Trust Board and Local Governing Committees.

You’ll be the first point of contact for our Trustees and Governors on all governance, constitutional and procedural matters. You’ll make sure the Trust Board is properly constituted and operating in line with legislation, the Academy Trust Handbook and best practice. You’ll lead on statutory and regulatory compliance, manage the governance cycle, help develop governance frameworks across the trust, and line manage our Assistant Governance Professional.

We’re looking for someone with proven experience in an education governance setting and a thorough understanding of the regulatory framework for academy trusts. You’ll be confident advising senior stakeholders clearly and with authority, and bring strong organisational, communication and administrative skills.

The role is 30 hours per week, but we’re happy to consider candidates looking for more or fewer hours. Due to the meeting schedule, some evening work is required.

💷 £32,046–£34,811 FTE (actual salary approx. £21,727–£23,602)
⏰ Part-time, permanent, 30 hours per week, term time only (38 weeks)

You'll oversee our 'Reset' removal room and support colleagues on duty there, working closely with students, pastoral staff and our wider inclusion team to step in when students are experiencing difficulties in school. Communicating effectively and proactively with parents will be a key part of the role.

We're looking for someone with an enthusiasm for pastoral support, the skills to guide and develop students with additional needs, and a vision for promoting our high expectations for respectful behaviour.
