Grandparents have so much to offer beyond cuddles and treats! ❤️ Their patience, life experiences, and encouragement can make a huge difference to a child's confidence and love of learning. Whether they're sharing stories from their childhood, listening to a child read, or playing a simple game together, they're creating precious memories while helping important skills to grow.

So here are three simple ways that grandparents can help our little learners... After all, learning doesn't always happen at a desk! Some of the most meaningful learning takes place through conversations, laughter, and spending quality time together. Every little moment helps children grow in confidence. 🌟

This week, I'm giving you a little glimpse behind the scenes at how I use AI tools, including ChatGPT and TeachMate AI, to make my tutoring sessions even more personalised. 🤖📚✨

One of the things I love most about tutoring is that every child is different. They all have their own strengths 💛, interests 🌍, learning styles 🧩 and areas they find more challenging, and that's exactly why I rarely rely on "off-the-shelf" resources for reading.

Using AI as part of my planning allows me to create reading comprehensions that are tailored not only to a child's reading ability, but also to the things they love, whether that's Minecraft ⛏️, football ⚽, animals 🦁, history 🏰, space 🚀 or something completely different!

Generating my own reading comprehension texts in this way also gives me the flexibility to adapt the presentation to suit individual learners. 📖✨ For example, I can use dyslexia-friendly fonts 🔤, adjust the font size, spacing and text colour 🎨 to improve readability, and, where helpful, print resources on coloured paper 🌈 to make reading more comfortable for some children. These small adjustments can make a big difference 💛, helping children access the text more confidently, reduce unnecessary barriers to learning 🚪, and focus on demonstrating their understanding rather than struggling with the presentation of the resource. 🌟

Even better, I can adapt the activities to suit how each child learns best. For children who find writing difficult or tiring, comprehension doesn't have to mean writing long answers. Instead, we might use multiple-choice questions ✅, sequencing activities 🔢, matching tasks 🔗, highlighting key words 🖍️, "find and copy" questions 🔍, or practical discussion activities 💬, all of which allow children to demonstrate their understanding while building confidence along the way.

Of course, AI doesn't replace the tutor! It simply gives me another tool to create high-quality, personalised resources more efficiently. The real magic still comes from knowing each child, understanding how they learn, and adapting every session to help them succeed. 🌈✨
