The Trafalgar School at Downton

🎉Students, families and staff were celebrating this morning as Year 11 leavers collect their GCSE results. There was a real buzz and sense of achievement. 🎉

Overall results at Trafalgar have matched the strong performance of 2025 which placed the school as the highest performing non-selective school in South Wiltshire.

This cohort of students were the last group of students to have had their transition to secondary school disrupted by the COVID pandemic. However, they have been rewarded for their resilience and determination with a strong set of GCSE grades.

Our Headteacher, Jy Taylor said; “We are so proud of all of our students, many of whom have faced exceptional challenges and overcome many barriers in order to achieve their grades. We all know that Covid didn’t end with the final ‘lockdown’ and for many of these children the social impact of the pandemic has lasted throughout their secondary education. No matter what their results they, and their families, should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved".

Progression routes for the Year 11 students are varied with a large number staying within the MLP family at S6C. Other destinations include Ringwood School, Brockenhurst and Wiltshire colleges and the two Salisbury grammar schools.

A number of students have performed particularly strongly with Eva and Amelie achieving a suite of the top Grade 9s and two Grade 8s.

Exam Results can be collected in person on Thursday 20th August from between 9.00am and 10.30am.

If students are not able to collect results in person, these will be posted home 1st class on Thursday, you should receive them by Saturday.

Should you wish a family member to collect your results for you, remember you need to give your consent for this and your nominated person needs to bring with them a signed letter/form from yourself giving permission.

Year 7
Ruby Y 7R - From the very beginning of Year 7, Ruby has impressed her teachers with her outstanding academic achievement, exceptional work ethic and positive attitude. Whatever the subject, she gives every lesson her very best. She has even represented the school through Drama, winning the school-wide monologue competition showing fantastic leadership and creativity.
What makes Ruby especially deserving of this Star of the Year, however, is the way she treats others. She is kind, compassionate, respectful and always willing to support those around her. She approaches every challenge with enthusiasm, maturity and quiet determination, making her a wonderful role model for her peers.
Ruby, you have made an incredible start to your journey at Trafalgar and you should be immensely proud of everything you have achieved this year. Congratulations and we cannot wait to see what you accomplish in the years ahead.

Year 8
Evie W in Year 8L. Evie has had an excellent year with an outstanding attendance of 100% for the whole of this academic year. Furthermore, Evie has the highest amount of positive points in the whole of Year 8 with a grand total of 1408 positive points for this academic year and has not picked up a single negative point. Moreover, Evie won the Being Trafalgar award at the Year 8 Celebration Evening. Also, Evie has demonstrated the Trafalgar values of being Compassionate in English, Determined in BVT, Food, Geography, IT and PE and Respectful in BVT, Drama, IT, PE, PSHCE and Science this academic year.
Evie has been an outstanding member of 8L this year and is thoroughly deserving of this recognition.
Her 100% attendance is a testament to her commitment, resilience and excellent attitude towards school. Evie consistently approaches every day with enthusiasm and gives her very best in all of her lessons. She is hardworking, conscientious and always strives to achieve her full potential.
Beyond her academic efforts, Evie is a kind, supportive and loyal friend who embodies the values of our school community. She shows genuine care for others, contributes positively to tutor time and is a wonderful role model for her peers.
We are incredibly proud of everything Evie has achieved this year. This award is richly deserved.

Year 9
Mille M in 9L. Millie really understands the importance of hard work but also the importance of kindness, tenacity and determination. She has taken part in a wide range of school competitions and is a former winner of the Great Trafalgar Bake Off. Her work ethic is legendary. She is a good friend, a fantastic student and staff describe her as delightful, focused and a pleasure to have in the classroom. She approaches every day with positivity and joy. What a privilege to have her at Trafalgar!

Year 10
This goes to Oreste F in 10L. During this year he has completely changed his attitude and effort in school, focusing on his work and improving his behaviour. He has become a lovely young man who is popular with both students and staff. We are so proud of what he has achieved this year and appreciate his hard work to turn things around.

Our Annual Sports Awards Evening was a fantastic celebration of the dedication, perseverance, and achievements of our talented student athletes.

It was a privilege to recognise those who have excelled across a wide range of sports while also celebrating the commitment, teamwork, and resilience shown by so many throughout the year.

Sports Day 2026 – What a Day!

Congratulations to all of our students who took part in this year's Sports Day! From the first race to the final relay, the day was filled with determination, resilience, teamwork, and outstanding sportsmanship. Every competitor represented their house with pride, creating a fantastic atmosphere both on and off the field.

A special congratulations to Breamore House, our Sports Day 2026 Champions! 🏆 Well done also to Radnor for finishing in second place and Pembroke for securing third. Every house should be incredibly proud of the effort, encouragement, and commitment shown throughout the day.

We would also like to recognise our new school record holders—Zach A (Year 7), who set new records in the 800m and 1200m, and Josh D (Year 10), who set a new 100m record. An outstanding achievement—well done!
