The grammar schools have started to confirm places. We can already see that the cut off distance for SWGS is

If you just missed out, being close is not really grounds for appeal. You really need to know you should have passed and extenuating circumastances, preferably reported at the time, as to why you didn't.

Despite 500 boys sitting the BWS 11+, the pass mark has gone down from 312 to 308. It will be interesting to see if the number of passers goes up. It didn't with the SWGS 11+. They also had more sitters and a lower pass mark, but had fewer passing.

Looking at past admission statistics, I think that a pass mark of 293 might mean about 61% of those sitting the exam passed. I don't know how many sat the exam but if 325 did this would give a cut off distance about 20 miles (on average). But if 350 sat the exam and 61% of them passed, you would expect a cut off distance closer to 15. All finger in the air analysis of not many data points, so could be completely wrong ...

No sign of BWS results yet. It is quite possible that GL Assessment deal with their traditional exam first and then work on the new exam, as used by BWS.

BWS say results will come in the week beginning October 13th.

Pass mark for SWGS is 293, with a pass mark for those with pupil premium of 284. Results are coming out tomorrow (Friday 10th October). The pass mark is normally 295 or 296.

SWGS 11+ set for Saturday 27th September 2025. Applications open between June 2nd and September 1st. Results out about October 13th.

The pass mark for the SWGS 11+ was 295. This is lower than normal. Might be good news if you were border line. Might be bad news if you live a long way away, as more places could go to those in catchment ...

The bws 11+ had a pass mark of 303. The score is calculated y adding up the three parts of maths, English and non-verbal. Presumably the fourth part (verbal reasoning) is included within the English score.

SWGS cut off mark is 295! A little lower than in previous years ...
