First day of the summer holidays has been brilliant! β˜€οΈπŸŒŠ We visited Calshot activity centre, Calshot castle and the beach. We talked about various types of boats, sports, learnt about the tide, waves, how sand it made, practiced lots of balancing, throwing and jumping. Super team work digging a hole and transporting the water into it, we had a chat about why it wasn’t filling up with water and then used a plastic bag to hold the water, we talked about why things float. Been a really fab day together, learning really is much more fun when you’re out πŸ˜ƒ xx

1st Alderbury Rainbows and Brownies πŸ˜ƒ

I am hoping to take over the unit in September but to keep it open we would need more girls to join us in September. We are currently a unit of both Rainbows and Brownies meeting together but this could change if numbers increase enough.

Girl Guiding is the UK’s largest organization dedicated specifically to girls, helping them develop confidence, leadership skills, teamwork, independence, and community involvement through activities, challenges, outdoor adventures, and volunteering.

Sections are divided into age groups:
* Rainbows (ages 4–7)
* Brownies (ages 7–10)
* Guides (ages 10–14) - unit in Downton and Pitton
* Rangers (ages 14–18) - unit in Pitton

Members work toward badges and awards by learning practical skills, participating in community projects, exploring the outdoors, developing leadership abilities, and trying new experiences. Activities can include camping, crafts, sports, STEM projects, first aid, environmental work, and international opportunities.

At the moment we run on a Monday evening and would look to move the time slightly later (5:30/5:45pm) from September to allow myself time to prepare after finishing work.

If you would like to know more about your child joining a unit (or volunteering yourself) please get in touch or register using the Girl Guiding website:

We have been busy planting seeds and have far too many pumpkin πŸŽƒ plants, so hoping to sell some to help us buy more compost and seeds etc. The children have looked after these in our little greenhouse but I have just repotted so 2 plants in each pot as they are ready to go into the ground.
Suggested donation Β£1 per pot please πŸ™
Plants are next to our front door. Please put the money through our letter box (our dog will be behind a baby gate so won’t get to the money).

What a super busy week, we’ve had fun learning in lots of different places:
- Sir Hiller Gardens
- Longdown Farm
- Soft play with our childminding friends
- Town, visiting the Library, buying snack from the shop and playing in the park (we had some wonderful comments on how well the children sat to eat their fruit and how well they played together πŸ₯°)
And much much more, here is a few snap shots of the fun we’ve had!

Our visit to Sir Hillier Gardens led to lots of natural opportunities for learning in the outdoors. After a play in the stream and a picnic on a bench listening to the birds we tried out some of the musical instruments. Here the children were following the song sheet with colour coded notes. What beautiful confidence singing and playing music together all child led choices 🎢 πŸ₯°

I think this is a very good poster, showing that children are always learning no matter what they are playing with πŸ¦‹
