Yesterday we used our wellbeing garden for the first time! We had a wonderful time exploring the area and using our senses to help us explore. We used our eyes to look around and see what’s in the garden, our nose to smell the wonderful scented flowers and vegetables, our hands to feel the leaves and things that are growing and our ears to listening to the beautiful bird songs we could hear and the little trickling water from the water fountain. We can use our taste soon when all our yummy fruit and vegetables are ready to harvest and we can enjoy them at snack time.
We also helped care to the plants that are growing within the garden by making sure they are watered and cared for. We can’t wait to come back again next week to see how everything has grown!!!

⭐️We have released our beautiful Painted Lady butterflies! ⭐️
We have really enjoyed watching the different stages of the painted lady’s life cycle. From the tiny caterpillars and watching them grow, then turning into their chrysalis and waiting patiently for them to hatch. Then over the last week all 5 slowly hatched out of their chrysalis’s and we have been watching them strengthen their wings and enjoy some fruits for some food. We have learnt so many amazing facts about them and then on Friday morning released them and watched them fly off onto some plants. They enjoyed sunning themselves to warm up their wings before they flew off to enjoy their new life!

🐝 World Bee Day 🐝
Wednesday was world bee day 🐝 ! Throughout the day we provided many different invitations and provocations for the children to learn and explore all things bees!
Did you know that bees have 5 eyes, they can flap their wings 200 times a second and that they do a ‘waggle’ dance to tell their friends where to find the best food!

🦔 Hedgehog awareness week 🦔
Over the week we have been learning about Hedgehogs and how we can help and protect them. The children enjoyed creating their own hedgehogs using clay and sticks and also collected some natural resources to make a few hedgehog houses around the woodlands. We keep checking them to see if they have been used!
Did you know …
- Hedgehogs have over 5000 spines!
- Hedgehogs make a grunting sound like a pig while searching for food!
- Hedgehogs can swim and climb!

🪴Gardening week 🪴
Last week we enjoyed getting our hands messy and getting stuck in for gardening week. We looked at the resources we would need and discussed what the seeds would need to grow. These opportunities are great for children to engage with nature and teaches responsibility and ownership for things we have planted and need caring for. It also helps promote mental well-being, physical development and understanding of our natural world around us.
