The Busy Mummy Creche
Crèche for ad hoc childcare coming soon to Salisbury City
27/09/2021
Well, looks like we’ve got a potential site! Well two in fact! Now to choose between them…
Big step on the road to opening Salisbury’s crèche today!!

OK people, time to ask for a bit of help. I’m going to need to prove that there is a need for a crèche service in Salisbury, the easiest way to do that is through this page so …. Please help get this service running in Salisbury and invite everyone you know to like this page. It will be the best form of evidence to show hundreds of people interested in a crèche facility in Salisbury. Please get sharing!
Picture of my smallest being helpful as ever at dinner time for the Facebook algorithms.

After what feels like an age of being turned down for viewings, not called back etc I finally have a couple of options that look pretty good for our crèche. Viewings are on Monday so watch this space. It has been quite staggering though that with so many empty spaces in the city centre it seems such a struggle to find one that will accept a crèche occupying it. Onwards and upwards!
So I’ve been thinking overnight about a WhatsApp type chat system on the crèche app so you can text and ask how they’re doing (you don’t want to lose precious you time making a call to check up) and we can send you a photo (assuming permission for photos is given) once they’re settled so you can see how they are and what they’re up to. Is this something you think you’d like? Trying to gauge interest to see if this would make you feel more comfortable at a drop off?
Just a little update today - unfortunately my offer on a location in central Salibsury has been rejected as they didn’t want me to put children’s toilets in. Back to the drawing board on location. If you know of any ideal space up for rent do get in touch!
This phase will seem quite slow going unfortunately. All the plans are in place, the recruitment is under way, we just need to wait for the ideal space to become available then everything will start moving quickly again!
Decisions coming out from the survey so far are:
Stay and Play sessions will be offered to give parents a chance to see the creche and meet the staff (Covid restrictions allowing)
Community Space - when the creche isn't open it will be offered to community groups to run vital support groups and all those baby and toddler groups we've missed so much over the last few years
Flexibility will be key - I'm hoping to get an app / booking system designed that will show you the availability, let you fill in all the required paperwork online (securely stored for return visits) and book as last minute as possible including being able to see which staff members will be running the slots and a little about them.
A sibling discount will be offered
A loyalty system will be in place - book a number of sessions and get your next one free etc.
A discount will be offered to NHS, Police and Fire Brigade staff
I will look at joining up with local exercise class providers to offer a group discount for childcare while attending exercise cllasses
Still waiting for the website to go live! It’s all built, just waiting for it to transition over to the live site but bank holiday is getting in the way I think. The main thing on there is an update on the latest decisions and thinking about how the crèche is going to be run. A lot of this has come from the survey response from Mums chat which has been AMAZING. Keep sharing the survey with Salisbury parents and help shape the crèche to really meet our community’s need.
I’ll post the updates on here later today too once I can get to my laptop without the toddler “helping”.
