One Step at a Time Tutoring is based in Amesbury.
We offer 1:1 tutoring sessions, both online and face to face for primary aged children.

I have been a primary school teacher for the last 7 years and a private tutor for the last two. I love working with children and seeing them grow in confidence and understanding, and is one of the main reasons I became a teacher.

I have had the opportunity to work with children of all abilities, including those with special educational needs like dyslexia and autism. I have worked with children across the primary age group, as well as supported children through SATs and the 11+. I believe every child can make progress, it is just a matter of finding the right way to support them.

I often get asked about how to encourage children to read more at home.

Reading is in so many different activities, it is okay if it’s not a book. It could be a recipe when you bake something together, a comic, a newspaper or even game instructions. All of these things and more are still your child practising their reading skills, even though they are not the traditional book.

Why not give it a go this weekend and change up your reading practise? It may surprise you when your child doesn’t even realise they are practising.
