Manchester City Council has introduced a new online EHC needs assessment request form for parents and carers.

I’ve put together a short NLH guide explaining what has changed, what information to include, what evidence you can upload, the legal test Manchester must still apply, and what happens after you submit your request.

The key point: the form is new, but your legal rights have not changed.

Home-to-school transport can bring such mixed emotions for SEND families.🦋

There can be relief that your child has a safe way to get to school, but also guilt, worry and that strange feeling of watching them leave without you. Then there are the practical challenges too - what happens when transport cannot come, a passenger assistant is unavailable, routines suddenly change, or you miss those everyday school-gate conversations that help you understand how your child’s day has gone.

In this blog, I share the reality behind home-to-school transport - the difficult parts, the positives, and the amazing drivers, passenger assistants and school staff who can make such a difference.

With the right people around them, transport can become more than a journey. It can become part of a child’s routine, independence and access to the right education. ❤️

✨ Free SEND workshops are coming soon! ✨

We’re excited to be bringing a series of free, supportive and informative workshops to Cheetham CofE Community Academy, open to all parents and carers. 🦋

The sessions will include input from professionals such as SALT, Educational Psychology, SENDIASS, Occupational Therapy, Prospect House, as well as toilet training support from an expert - with more topics to be announced.

The aim is simple: to give families clearer information, practical guidance and a welcoming space to ask questions and better understand the SEND journey.

These workshops are being organised by Neurodiversity Learning Hub, in collaboration with Manchester Parent Carer Forum and Manchester Parent Champions. ❤️

More details coming soon - keep an eye on our page for dates and workshop information.

Today I came across Spectrum Travel Events Ltd, an autism and sensory-friendly travel service supporting families and individuals to access journeys, days out, events and more in a more inclusive and comfortable way.

For many SEND families, travel can be one of the biggest barriers - whether that is due to sensory needs, anxiety, transitions, safety, waiting times, or the worry of not knowing how a child or young person may cope.

Services that understand these needs can make a real difference.

Spectrum Travel offers autism and sensory-friendly travel, with features such as:

🔹 TV and Xbox
🔸 Fidget toys
🔹 Sensory lighting
🔸 Snacks and drinks
🔹 Car seats available
🔸 A welcoming and inclusive approach

They support with airport transfers, days out, events, holiday parks and more.

It was lovely to learn more about a service that is thinking about accessibility, inclusion and reducing stress around travel.

Sharing for any families who may find this helpful ❤️

Because inclusion should not stop at school or services - it should be part of everyday life too.
